Ca' del Moro Foresteria
Ranked #25 of 33 Hotels in Lido di Venezia
Reviewed 4 July 2012

Just spent a very pleasant short stay here, partly to escape the heat of Venice (we are staying in an apartment without AC and after a week we desperately needed cool air) and partly because I love to play tennis and found about about this place on trip advisor. The room was small, clean and very reasonable for a triple but minimalist - but you don't come here to stay in your room. That said, the AC worked great! You could hear the neighbors so the walls are thin but it was very quiet at night.

But I really want to talk about the facilities, especially the tennis which is the best in Venice and the Lido. 4 perfect clay courts, several covered courts with a fake grass surface (no AC but you don't get direct sun) and a few other courts. Must important, the teacher I had was superb if you can take a lesson in Italian. His name is Andrea and he is a former top player from the Veneto. Today with his partner Luca who also teaches there he is ranked in the top 5 doubles teams in Italy in the over 40 category. Suffice it to say that he is a superb player and an absolutely charming man. I enjoyed every minute of our grueling workouts (which last 45-50 minutes). He has been teaching there for over 20 years. And here is the best part - the lesson is only 30 euros including court time. Suffice it to say that it was the best tennis deal I've ever found.

After a grueling workout, you can cool yourself down in the huge pool or go to the well air conditioned gym which has a huge assortment of free weights and machines - its much better than the standard exercise room in even the best hotels because it's a free standing gym.

To get all of this with the price of the room I think is an amazing deal. On the downside, it is far away from the action at the heart of the Lido but very efficient buses which run every ten minutes and stop very close to the hotel will get you there in about 10 minutes. But you may decide you don't want to leave. Hope this helps any other fanatic tennis players planning a trip to the Serenissima. Btw, you don't have to stay at the hotel to take the lessons. If you do take a lesson with Andrea, tell him Guido from Manhattan sent you:)

Not one to normally write reviews but thought this hotel deserved a good one seeing as how all the other reviews are quite mixed on here. I firstly cant understand why this hotel is so cheap. We stayed here for a week and thought that it was great and had everything you needed for a trip to Venice. As we were there for a week it was great to have the pool and beach nearby and plenty of nice restaurants in the main bit of the lido just a ten minute bus journey away. (the bus is so easy, there is a bus stop right outside of the hotel and buses run every 10 mins so never need to wait) getting into Venice is about a five minute boat trip from the lido and a pleasant journey at that, boats also are very regular from lido to Venice. Hotel is clean, pool is big with lots of sunbeds and was never too crowded, nice bar/restaurant and plenty of choice at breakfast. Staff were freindly and always keen to answer questions or to give information.
If you are staying for a Week its good to get a 7 day bus pass for 50 euros which you can use on all buses and boats in and around Venice and lido. There is a lovely beach heading left out of the hotel grab the bus in the direction of alberoni and ask the driver which stop to get off for the beach. DO NOT STAY IN MESTRE we were looking at staying there and were so glad we decided not to as we drove through it and it is vile! Lido has the feel of a beach holiday with the added bonus of having Venice on your doorstep!

Me and my 2 girlfriends stayed here for about 3 nights and it was a very clean and large facility. We were all 18 years old, but I could see that this hotel was very suitable for childern. They had a large pool, tennis facilities et.c. The rooms were big enough for all of us and the staff were nice!
The location was a bit "off", but the bus transportations were always running.

Stayed at this hotel April 2011 and again at the start of June this year. Find it much cheaper to stay here on the Lido rather than in Venice itself. Also its lovely approaching Venice from the water Only about 10 minutes, great photo opportunities. The hotel is easy to find, just a short bus ride from the main Vaparetto stop, get off at bus stop 4 of 5 on the Malamocco, walk about 50 meters, on from the bus stop and the hotel is on the opposite side of the road. The rooms are quite large, modern and clean, ask for one with a terrace which are on the 2nd floor (lift to all floors), you'll find the terrace is even larger than the room - which is lovely in sunny weather as you can sunbathe.
Continental breakfast with a pretty good choice of foods. The staff are very helpful with advice etc about Venice. If like us you fly from Venice later in the day, you can drop your luggage for 5 euros per bag at near the bus terminal they're open till 9pm so you don't have to drag your case round all day. Another thing about the Lido, are the supermarkets, you can pick up some lovely food for picnics, then go to Venice find a lovely place to sit and have a picnic, also great for picking up some wine, ridiculously cheap, lovely wine for literally 2 or 3 euros a bottle. Also great restaurants in the main road of the Lido, especially Roxys

Room Tip: Ask for room on second floor with terrace

We have stayed in Ca' del Moro for 3 nights in the end of May.The hotel is located 15 mins by bus from Lido public boat service, the buses run very often, we had no problem to get there. There is also a free mini bus service provided by the hotel running from the hotel to Lido bus station. It's much cheaper to buy travel card for public transport, you can use buses as well as boat service, but airport transport costs extra. We have paid 35 Euros for 72 hrs travel card.
The hotel is located in quiet location with beautiful well maintained grounds, football pitch, tennis grounds and swimming pool.
We stayed in room 105, first floor, spacious room. The room was cleaned and towels changed daily.
Great reception staff, polite and professional. We have asked for fresh towels as ours got wet in the balcony as it was raining and we got them in 3 minutes!
Breakfast was ok, simple but used good quality products, nice fresh bread and warm croissants.
We did enjoy staying in Ca'del Moro and we would recommend it to everyone wishing to visit Venice. We had a great weekend there.

Room Tip: ask for the room with the balcony as some of them don't have balconies.

We stayed here for 3 nights.
Really enjoyed the stay, but remember its not a 5* hotel.
Rooms are light and bright, we had a nice balcony, with view over tennis courts, a sun trap. Shower room is clean and has all you need including shower gel, soap, shampoo and soap. Hair dryer and ample towels. TV is no point, as only news Chanel, but you don't go to Venice to watch tv.
Beds were comfiest, and clean. Duvets had seen better days. All the filling had moved to corners, but it was warm enough not to be a problem, but beware if you go in winter. My only small gripe was there was only one plug socket behind a wardrobe, so hard to charge anything.

The grounds are really nice, with little lizards sunning themselves. The pool wasn't opening til 1/6, as weather had been poor, but it looked a nice size. Little restaurant and bar was great for a snack, and drink.

All the staff where really helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Note though they did struggle for change, so try to take small denomination. Wifi is 5 euros for 1 hour, and signal a little week, but you can use the time in segments, so an hour lasted me 4 days.
We were in block B so didn't meet night watchman.

Breakfasts were ok, plenty of choice of various continental options. Notice board gives daily weather, info re travel cards etc. vending machine with drinks and snacks/sweets available, but take 1 euro coins.

Mini bus runs up til 10.30am for free transit into the town. Otherwise it's the bus, which takes about 20 mins, but can get very busy. Paid about 10 euros for a taxi. Buses and ferries run frequently during the day, and night service runs half hourly. Ferries also get packed, but run constantly. You need to allow an hour door to door from hotel to St Marks Square. It's about 2 mins walk from hotel to bus stop. You can also hire bikes.

Plenty of places to eat in town centre, but no where really close. Supermarket, shops, chemist, and bars there too, just opposite ferry stop.

If you are looking for a quiet, cheap base in Venice this is a great option.

We stayed at this hotel at the end of october 2011, for 2 nights, and it was just perfect. We loved the breakfast (a lot of food and a lot of choices). The room was nice, big beds, not noisy... just what we wanted. (probably the tv was too small...but...who goes to Venice to watch TV? ).

Room Tip: We were facing the courtyard and it was ok.
