My family (husband, son (12), daughter (7), ) stayed here because it was the "closest hotel to Silverwood." Well, it's not that close and some of the others are only a block or two away. This is obviously a great place for kids with the waterpark attached next door. However, we had to cut our trip short by one day because I couldn't stand the messiness. It's full of kids, so what can you expect? Stains on most of the carpeted areas in the rooms and out. Stains on the walls, sticky stuff in the breakfast area. People are allowed to walk, dripping wet and barefoot, out of the waterpark area ANYWHERE else in the hotel. They could eat at the cafe and then go back into the waterpark - all barefoot! Do you know how much water and hair was everywhere? I couldn't even go into the waterpark after thinking about all those bare feet and where they'd been - public bathrooms, crumb filled floors. I know I am over-reacting, but I also know there are other clean freaks out there who will appreciate this review before they go.
The rooms were a very nice size and the employees were all very nice and super helpful. I just couldn't get past the lack of hygiene.

It would not be fair to just review this hotel without including a review of Triple Play Fun Park (http://www.3play.com/), which is attached to this hotel.

The hotel is located on hwy 95 in Hayden, Idaho, which is really the north side of Coeur d’ Alene.

The location is very convenient with restaurants, a grocery and a liquor store within 1 block of the hotel.

The hotel is only about 3 years old and it still looks new.

We found the staff to extremely helpful and friendly. We were there on one of the busiest weekends of the year; spring break. The hotel was filled to capacity and the staff were running off their feet.

We showed up 2 hours before check in and were able to check in early.

We were probably given the WORST room in the hotel. It was right off the main lobby next to the elevators, breakfast area and exercise room. The TV in the exercise room was turned up so loud, we had to raise our voices to have a conversation.

Now, with all that, because we planned to spend all our time in the fun park till well after the exercise room closed, we were not concerned with all the noise. If we had planned to spend any time in the room this would have been a BIG problem.

The room itself was a basic room with 2 queen beds. The room came with a microwave and large mini fridge, which was very convenient because we brought our own water bottles and juice. The bathroom was large and everything was spotless! This may have been the cleanest room we have ever stayed in. The bedding was comfortable, the towels were soft; we were very impressed.

The continental breakfast was above average with all the usual stuff. The line up for breakfast was pretty long but that was probably because of spring break.

Check out is 12:00 so you can hit the fun park in the morning before check out.

There is a walkway between the hotel and the fun park which closes at 10:00 pm. The pool and other indoor attractions close at 10:00 but the bowling alley stays open till midnight.

To get back to the hotel after 10:00 pm, you have to walk a short distance outside. This is probably only a concern in winter although; there were some drunk, rowdy, young adults that were kicked out around 11:45pm when we were there. They were gone by midnight when we left but if they had been hanging around outside I would not have been too comfortable.

The hotel and fun park offer “stay and play” packages. They start at $159.00, which includes a basic room and 4 passes to the pool / water park.

We bought the “total package” which starts at $259.00 ($100.00 extra). We had to pay extra because of peak season, but the extra $$ was well worth it for us. The extra items tat come with the “ultimate package” include the unlimited passes for up to 4 people to the waterpark and the mini golf, $40.00 in food credits and 24 attraction passes.

The attractions include 10 pin bowling (20 lanes), laser tag (this was our favourite), a climbing wall and in summer there is a 2nd outdoor mini golf, bumper boats and go-carts.

There is also an arcade with all kinds of games including games that you win “tickets” on that you can trade for prizes later. The kids enjoyed that a lot too.

Most of the attractions cost $6.50 each, so you save over $50.00 right there, then tack on the $40.00 food voucher and unlimited golf and we found it to be well worth the extra $100.00.

The pool/water park, named “Raptor Reef” has a wave pool, indoor/outdoor hot tub, kids area and 3 water slides. We all had a great time here even though it was FULL. To their credit, Triple Play limited admission to hotel guests only during this time.

The indoor mini golf was OK. It was fun enough but it has a lot of damage to the walls and carpet.

Bowling was super fun too. At 9:15 pm, they turn down the lights and turn up the music and disco ball. There is a licensed grill beside the bowling alley, so if you want to eat and have a couple of drinks it’s all right there, very convenient.

For the most part, the staff at Triple Play was extremely helpful, professional and friendly. There were only 2 times where we thought differently. Both of these staff members stood out like a sore thumb and I have no doubt that they will soon find themselves out of work. We were very impressed that the staff could be as good as they were during such a busy weekend!

The Coeur d’Alene area has a lot to offer as well. In summer especially, there is the Silverwood Amusement Park just a short drive north, which is a GREAT combination theme park and water park that you can easily spend 2 or 3 days at. The shopping in the area is also very good but Idaho does have a state tax. Spokane, Washington is very close. There is excellent shopping there too and Washington does not have a state tax.

We love the Coeur d’Alene area and we will definitely stay at this hotel again; especially in winter. If you like the idea of a hotel / fun park combination and you will take advantage of the attractions I would highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed at this hotel in June of 07. The rooms are clean, the staff are nice and the beds comfortable. It was nice having the water park right next door, our 6 year old son loved. I would caution any light sleeper, that the walls are paper thin, you can say good night to your neighbor when it's time for bed.

Our family stayed here for two nights in August after planning a trip to the Silverwood Theme Park. We were particularly excited about the adjoining Raptor Reef Water Park/Slides and though that would be fun for our kids 6 and 8. We arrived to find a quick check in line and friendly front desk staff. Very customer service oriented, answering many questions we had about the area.

We were checked in room 215 on the main floor just a few doors down from the vending and elevator. Throughout our stay, our main complaint was the noise in the hallway, rooms next to us and above us. The walls must be paper thin in this hotel because we were even woke up at 615 one morning to hear a telephone conversation someone was having in the room next to us. We could hear kids yelling and screaming up and down the halls pretty much the whole day until around 11pm and then it started up as early as 7 in the morning. This is the only complaint we had with this hotel and really I dont know if we should blame the hotel or the parents who allow their children to act without consideration of others.

The room was nicely appointed and clean. It had comfy beds, a fridge and microwave. The maids did a good job each day of tidying the rooms.

The continental breakfast was fantasic as far as hotel breakfasts go. The biscuits and gravy were good as were the cinammon rolls. Plenty of seating and food left even a half hour before it closed down (10am).

The water park was wonderful. Our kids loved it! thought the pool was a tad on the cold side but the kids didnt mind. The slides were great for such a great park and the lines were fairly short. The wave pool and kids area was great too. The place was very clean and the lifeguards were attentive and professional.

We did go into the Triple Play area but didnt do any of the activities as they were pretty pricey.

All told, if we were ever to return to this area again, we would most likely stay but we would ask for the top floor as far away from the elevator as possible. Maybe that would help with the noise. I dont think we will be back to the area however because we did not enjoy Silverwood (see that review for more info).

If you have kids or dont mind the noise from them, this is an excellent place to stay. I would not recommend it for business or honeymoon travelers.

This Holiday Inn Express adjoins a terrific indoor water park. My 6 year old and 2 1/2 year old were in heaven. There were little slides for the little one and inner tubes for three big slides. The staff was helpful - I asked where the towels were and the teenager went back to the main hotel and got some for me - with a smile! We stayed in a one-bedroom suite with three beds. Clean, comfy beds plus a couch, dinette and kitchenette. Breakfast was average.
