The desk clerk was very friendly and helpful and our room was large and clean...both good things for a very modest price. Otherwise, compared to the glowing reviews, this was the one disappointment of a recent 3-week trip. Being a gardener, I was really turned off by the trash and dried weeds in the entry and parking lot. The dim lighting and broken card lock on the door from the hall to the parking lot did not inspire a sense of security. Being allergic to dust, mold and artificial air fresheners, I would have had to leave were it not for the healthy dose of antihistamines I downed with dinner at the nearby Applebees. This is an older property near the end of a long row of competing motels. It is among the most affordable options and the management deserves a "T for Trying." We enjoyed the indoor hot tub down the hall from our room. We didn't use the pool, but it looked clean and pleasant. It was nice to be able to park the car and walk along the river to see the falls and get something to eat.

The inside looks a little old and run down, but it looked clean and the staff was very friendly. Our only problem was that my wife has allergies and she was stuffed up a lot because of the dog hairs that were in the carpet. The hot breakfast was very good. We enjoyed the pool and the hot tub. They also have a small exercise room which we didn't use. We enjoyed a beautiful view as we walked the path along the river immediately behind the hotel.

I should have heeded the other terrible reviews and skipped over this place, but a little late night optimism coupled with lack of sleep prompted us to stop. It couldn't be THAT bad; could it? The place was almost fully booked and we got the non-smoking room. Taking our keycard, we drove around to the back of the building where men were milling about smoking and drinking beer in the parking lot. As I parked I looked up to find an intimidating man with a handlebar mustache staring down at us from his second floor room window. We should have turned around, but it was late and we decided to press on through the back door with the broken security lock, where a heavily tattooed man passed quickly by us. Inside, we had to squeeze by another couple of worn dudes in the hallway to get to our room. Had there been a mistake? When we opened the door we were greeted with a toxic cloud of cigarette odor from our allegedly "non-smoking" room. We entered and promptly called down to the front desk. While on the phone, I looked down to see the bare coax cable draped listlessly across the dresser where a television should have been. The very nice desk clerk confirmed it was a non-smoking room and suggested that perhaps the smell had wafted over from three rooms down. We said that was strange since the hallway didn't stink. (Perhaps this smoke passes through walls, Casper style?) And the TV? According to the friendly clerk, the room had just been "deep cleaned". It must've have been that special kind of cleaning that spirits away TV's while missing the acrid nicotine cloud. While the friendly clerk was helpful enough to offer us a can of air freshener, we decided to move on. To their credit, they promptly refunded our payment and were apologetic. We moved down the highway and coughed up a couple of extra dollars to stay at the perfect Sleep Inn. I suggest you do the same.

We had a bad experience at the super 8 across the street and so I called and talked to Cassie and she was wonderful about finding us a room and making sure we had a great experience! We've stayed all week and check out tomorrow. All the staff has been so helpful and kind! Definetly will recommend this hotel to others! Thanks!
