We recently spent three nights at the Henry's Fork cabin and were excited to stay given the location and great reviews. We did not eat at the restaurant. We have stayed many times at other cabins/condos around the US and Canada and given the price point of this cabin we were left wanting.
Check in is at 3, though the cabin was not ready when we arrived after 4. When we finally got in we discovered the hot tub, though running, was nearly empty. This was remedied but prevented us from using the hot tub our first night as the water temp was too chilly.
-Tremendous view and location (especially if fly fishing is on the agenda)
-Good layout for 2 families vacationing together; 2 bathrooms and 2 bedrooms, each with 2 queens. Roll-aways available in the closet and it looks like the couch may have a fold out bed (neither of which we tried).
-Huge potential for a truly remarkable get-away
-The beds were like stone slabs and we found ourselves being reminded that there are places in the world where people sleep on grass mats on the floor (but not at this price point!)
-There are no window coverings in the living room. This leaves you with blinding afternoon sun (literally), zero privacy at night and a sunrise wakeup should you use the living room couch for sleeping (which we did in an attempt to find some relief from the stone slabs).
-The living room furniture (or should I say large sectional couch) is dated and the recliners do not recline properly.
-There is no booklet with guest service information containing things like the number to call should we require more paper goods or bar soap (or anything else), where to buy laundry soap, etc. A copy of the restaurant menu would likely have enticed us to dine.
Things to know:
-There is no housekeeping (though I was told it is available if requested; extra towels were in the front closet, but there were extra bathroom supplies)
-There is a washer/dryer combo but you need to bring your own detergent.
-The only pantry supplies were dishwasher detergent, salt, pepper and coffee filters (most seem to have been left by other renters).
-There is a gas grill but the condition is downright dangerous.
-The kitchen cooking and baking gear is sparse and in poor condition.
-Eating utensils (teaspoons) are missing -- better bring plastic spoons.
-There is satellite TV but no wifi. We were told there is wifi in the main lodge but never tried. There is a DVD player, again we did not use.
-Water pressure for showering is abysmal and you should stagger water usage. I don't know if this is because there are too many users on one well or what, but we were thankful there was no one in the neighboring cabin.
I had hoped to address some of our concerns with staff but when we checked out at 9 am there was no one at the front desk and all I could do was leave a note. With some updates and greater attention to detail (like sweeping the decks and wiping out the kitchen drawers and cupboards) this place could be wonderful. Generally we felt somewhat neglected -- which might be ok -- had we been made to feel more like guests than tenants.
