The staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. We stayed here and in Yellowstone and both experiences were great, but we were able to take a longer vacation because the rates at Sawtelle were so much more reasonable. Very friendly environment, beautiful setting. The basic rooms are basic but good for the price. The three-level log cabin-style townhouses are amazing and still cheaper than staying in Yellowstone. Plenty of outdoor activities right in the area. Though a bit of a drive to Yellowstone, it is worth it if you want a good value for your lodging money and a nice setting.

Stayed one night on the way from Stanley to Jackson area. A small room with worn carpet, tiny sink, and dim lighting. Even the artificial plant looked tired. No nearby restaurant except for the Island Park Lodge across the highway. There is a reason the price is relatively low - you get what you pay for. Will not stay there again.

Room Tip: pick another motel

Good value accommodation. Decent shower and wi fi access, however complicated cable and hard bed. However, I can't fault price, coffee maker and location .
It only took 30 minutes to drive to the park in the morning and we stocked up at Robin's Roost across the road and ate locally.

The Sawteele Mountain Resort was clean, attractive and comfortable. A welcome resting spot on our journey to Yellowstone. There was a coffee maker in the room but no nearby restaurant open for breakfast, except Subway.

I will not stay here again. The beds were super hard, there was a sm bug in the drawer, the sink had a big ugly black crack in it & the water never really got too warm in the shower. There are better hotels elswhere. Their office was nice & thought there rooms would be of better quality then they were. Very Disappointed

Room Tip: ask to stay in the lobby, it was clean & in good condition, not like their rooms lol

My family decided to stay here since it would be our first camping trip with young children and we thought it would be easier to be at a site that had bathing and restroom facilities. In theory, this place seemed to fit the bill-until we arrived. The restroom and shower facility offered zero privacy-it was a large room with no separation between the two toilets or the two showers there. The door to the entire thing locked, but meant that only ONE person could use the facilities if you had any expectation of privacy. Completely ridiculous, especially when you figure that facility was designed to be used by RV and tent campers alike on a total of maybe 60 pad sites. So, you can imagine that at least 80% of the time the facility was occupied and you had to walk up the hill to use the single restroom or shower in the office. Not convenient at all with two young kids. On more than one occasion, members of our party had the misfortune of walking in on naked campers using the showers or toilets that thought they'd be nice and leave the door unlocked to let someone else use the bathroom. UH... NO THANK YOU!! Another guy we ran into told us his wife accidentally walked in on a guy drying off coming out of the showers because the porch lights on the restroom facility were left off and she opened the wrong door. I'm sure that was a site she'd wished she could have avoided!! Additionally, these facilities weren't kept very clean either. My sister and I used the facility and noticed lots of mud and dirt all over the floors and in the shower areas, and this was supposedly after the cleaning crew had been there when the facilities are closed daily for cleaning from 9-10. Don't expect the front desk crew to be too on top of it either-I had to ask for toilet paper and paper towels for the bathroom twice in my two day stay because they were out.
We'd never stayed there before, so we didn't know that the site was right next to the highway. If you are sensitive to night noises while sleeping, this location will keep you up at night. We heard semis driving all hours of the night, but perhaps sites more toward the interior of the grounds were more quiet. During the day, they had someone out doing ground care with a weed eater right near our site as we were trying to lay our kids down for a nap. Now I don't expect them to accomodate my children's nap schedule, but seriously, a Saturday afternoon with your camp site packed full is when you decide is a good time to do maintenance? It was absurd to say the least.
There were other things I could complain about, but I'll stop there with the major things I outlined. Go stay at Coffee Pot, Riverside, or Big Springs instead-they might not have the facilities like this place advertises but it won't really matter because in my opinion you aren't really getting the value out what Sawtelle is charging anyway. The others have better views and are about half the price. Good luck!!

A decent budget hotel, we stayed here for two nights whilst visiting Yellowstone national park. It does take a good half an hour to reach west Yellowstone as its 21 miles away. However, the hotel was ok, quite dated rooms which need a makeover but I guess that would raise the price! Overall fairly good value
