We are RV'ing in Couer d' Alene, ID. and after a nice walk along the lake decide to visit a gold mine. We entered through the gift shop and were warmly greeted Sherry. We paid our fee and were introduced to our guide, Ray who was the owner along with Sherry of the mine. Ray took us on our tour of the real gold mine. He had a great knowledge of the history of mining in that area of Idaho. He grew up in a silver mining town and had been a silver miner. The insights he was able to give us made the tour unbelievably interesting. His demonstration of the darkness in the mine in the 1880's was amazing. We saw several families taking this tour and their kids were having as interesting time as we were. This is a must see stop for anybody visiting this area.

A nice stop that gives a very informative tour of the history of the mine. The tour is not very long, maybe 20 minutes but interesting. The gold panning after is fun and our guide took the time to teach you the technique of gold panning instead of just handing you a pan as we have seen other places. After the tour you get 1 hour to pan for gold. Nice little shop with interesting things. Bring a jacket.

Stopped here on the way back from Montana. Cool tour with really friendly and knowledgeable guides. Costs $12/adult ($1 discount for AAA) for the tour and gold panning. Worth a visit!

Took the grandparents visiting from Florida and they loved it. Our kids, 8 and 4, also had a great time. The gold panning was fun, everyone participated. Hubby found 3 gold flecks and kids brought home a bag full of gems.
Ray and Sherrie were very good at making our visit outstanding. Very nice to our entire family and the tour was well worth it.

What a great experience. Our family visited Aug, 2013. We had 6 adults and 4 children. There was something for everyone to do. I went on the mine tour twice, Ray was historically accurate and his tour was very educational and interesting. The kids really enjoyed panning for Gold I realized after about 15 minutes what back breaking work this was, The RV park was great. It was clean and spacious with full hook-ups for only $25 per night. The biking trails were actually paved it was just wonderful can't wait to go back next year. If you go make sure you say hi to Sharie in the gift shop her and Ray are just wonderful host and a wealth of information on the local area.
