“Great hotel with everything you will need for a great stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2013

We stayed over the 4th of July weekend with our two dogs in one of the one-bedroom suites. This was my third time staying, and it's always a pleasure to come back. Yes, only building A has Wi-Fi, but all other rooms have free wired internet (which is much faster). Just make sure to bring your own network cable (since the ones that are provided by the front desk are very short). Otherwise the condo had everything needed (and more), the location is great: Next to the Silver Mountain gondola for great hikes on the mountain, next to the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes for great biking, skating or walking, and next to the indoor waterpark (which we didn't use). The staff is very friendly, the rooms are very clean and although it's not cheap, you get what you pay for. We will definitely stay here again next time.

Room Tip: Try to get a room away from the plazas or hot tub (BBQ) areas in building C and D. We stayed on the...

The hotel itself is clean, rooms are nice, etc. However, the basic amenities found in less expensive hotels are lacking. The are several individual buildings with rooming. Wifi is not available in those buildings at all. When sleeping four people, rooms with two queen beds are not available. The rooms come with one king bed and a sofa bed. A complimentary breakfast of any sort is not available. Upon inquiry, the response was that a cafe is on the grounds and a complimentary breakfast is not available "since all units come with a kitchenette, the expectation is that guests would eat in their room". Yep, those exact words. Bottom line: bring your own food - something you can make in a toaster or microwave - or be prepared to pay handsomely for every meal. At the waterpark, the food comes from a mall food-court type counter where a slice of pizza costs $5 and a smoothie is $15 (no, that's not typo!).

Overall, it seems that this hotel depends on the unique amenities of the waterpark and outdoor games such as tennis and basketball to make up for the lack of common and basic amenities. But for the price, I expected the whole package.

Here's the deal people, this place is WAAAY over priced and there is NO wifi. So let's just start there. Yes, there is no wifi in the hotel. You're not on mars, your in Idaho and they have wifi in Idaho.

If money is absolutely no concern to you and you don't need internet access, then this place is perfect for you. You will overpay for a nice room in a very convenient location and read your non-e-book all day.

To be fair, the rooms are very well done and comfortable and everything works and the kitchens are fully stocked. You can BRING a router with you and plug it in and that will work for one or two people to be online, but that's it.

So what you SHOULD do, is rent a two bedroom condo about five blocks away for one third the price and most of those have Wifi :)

We stayed here with our 2 children over spring break and it was fantastic. We had the room with the gourmet kitchen and it was stocked with everything you need. This room also had a washer and dryer which was great for the wet ski wear and swim wear. The waterpark that is at the hotel is super fun. It has something for everyone. There are 3 big waterslides, the surfing area, lazy river and hot tubs that range in different water temps. There is one that is warm but not hot for the whole family to enjoy and then there are 2 more that are hotter for older kids and adults. There is a lot more to the waterpark other than what I have mentioned. The hotel also has fire places scattered through out the grounds for roasting marshmallows. We brought hot dogs and marshmallows and had dinner outside at the fire one night. This place is definitely worth it!!!!! I would stay at least 2 nights, one is just not enough.

While I will list some negatives I still rate it very good because most of them are out of the resorts hands.

We Stayed one night at the the Silver Mountain Morning Star Lodge. We swam, ate, slept, skied, swam, left. Our studio apartment was very modern, clean and comfortable. Noahs resturant was good and the ski hill was great. The water park was clean as well. We ski all over the northwest and I will say the employees at the hotel and ski resort are not as freindly as you find at other ski resorts (exception being the front desk clerks they were great). If the city of Kellogg chooses to stay a backwoods dump the water park needs to stay open longer than 8pm. There is nothing to do in Kellogg except to drive around and look at abandoned storefronts, and a car dealership that is swallowing up the town. The one good thing is that many locals are kept from the water park because you must be staying at the hotel or hold a season pass to the ski mountain to get in. Since the passes cost more than most houses (only $269) in Kellogg it keeps the place somewhat decent. But do not fret there is no shortage of 300lb people sporting skimpy swimsuits with hidious tattoos, thus not totally denying you the N. Idaho experiance.

We stayed here for a weekend with the idea to ski and then use the waterpark. The room was very nice and the hotel property is awesome. The rooms had microwave, dishwasher, dishes and fridge. For the money put into the rooms, they forgot to add insulation- you could hear everything. There were some other issues also. The front desk told us there would be a discount for ski tickets since we were staying there- Not! They quoted me $199 a night for four people for two nights but they charged us $199 one night and $219 the second night - oh and only the manager can do anything about it but she wasn't in-of course. The waterpark was ok - but closes by 8pm. Especially in the winter there is nothing to do after the waterpark closes. There is not an arcade or other activity for teenage kids. Your card key only works for your building so if you wanted to walk indoors closer to the waterpark you can't

I brought my son and his friend for his 13th birthday. They love the waterpark but even they complained about the sofa bed. It had a huge yellow stain on the mattress, it was lumpy, and slanted so they had to sleep the opposite way on it. These are 13-year-old BOYS who smell like sweaty socks all the time. If they were grossed out by the bed, beware! My other beefs: the front desk started calling the room phone at 7am and called every 15 minutes until I finally answered. They said I was parked inappropriately. There is NO adequate parking there unless you arrive early and never move your car. The phone calls woke the kids up (awesome!) and I had to get dressed and walk the ten minutes to the car, move it to another inappropriate spot and make the walk back which includes two different elevators. I had to call twice for towels. Besides all that, THIS PLACE IS STUCK IN THE 80'S. THERE IS NO WIFI IN THE HOTEL. I had to borrow an Ethernet cable from the front desk and plug myself into the room's kitchen. I got moderate wifi signal in the waterpark which is not conducive to those of us who have work to do. Other guests are loud at all hours in halls and outside. The food in the village is expensive and below average. The good in the water park is nasty and fried. I had a similar experience two years ago. Thought it might be better this time. We will go to Triple Play next time.
