Dashi has become a new favorite for my family. The cuisine is some of the best in town and the service is perfect. Love sitting on their patio in the summer. Great location and the price is right!

Just returned from a delightful dinner at Dashi. We made reservations and sat on the patio. The sun was setting, there was a slight breeze - wonderful way to spend our last night in Ketchum. Ahh - the food! it was plentiful and delicious. I had the wok barbequed Idaho pork baby back ribs with hoisin and a side of kimchee, rice and scallion. The ample meat almost fell off the ribs and the Asian hoisin sauce made them taste like none other than I've ever had. My wife had, and loved, two small plates; green papaya salad and wasabi encrusted phyllo wrapped ahi. Couple that with a good bottle of Zinfandel and the price was still less than $100. By the way our server was a very attentive woman originally from Romania - Oana.

Made reservations well advance for 6. When we arrived they had lost our reservations and offered us a plastic picnic table in this back next to a pile of dog poo. We had eaten there once before and the food was fair, but I will certainly not go back given their approach to customer service that seems to be centered around blaming the customer for their own failings. There are many great restaurants in Ketchum and I recommend picking one other than Dashi.

Once again I am very sorry for the situation that happened, I just want to clarify a few things to make sure the readers of this site know all the facts about what happened. Customer service is very important to us and would do anything to make sure our guests leave happy. The reservation that is mentioned was made well in advance for 6pp on one of the busiest weekends of the year in a resort town so we depend on this time for our survival the rest of the year. We take phone numbers for reservations for the sole purpose of confirming the reservation when the day comes as it is common in this valley for tourists to make two or three reservations the same night at different places in advance and decide that night which one to fulfill, leaving the other places with empty seats. We tried multiple times to confirm this reservation but they had given us a home number and it could not be confirmed, we saved space on some picnic benches that we use a lot and some of our regular customers love, to make sure we had some space if the reservation was to show as every seat was booked and we had a long waiting list. We had no idea it was a home number and needed a confirmation to hold a table. All other reservations were confirmed and I am sure most restaurants in Sun Valley that weekend were confirming reservations.

When the guest did arrive we offered them the space we had, which is not in the back but on the side of the building with fantastic views of baldy. The guests were understandably frustrated but we were doing the best we could with an unconfirmed reservation. The pile of dog poop mentioned was 10 plus feet away from the table on the grass of the business next door and was promptly cleaned up when brought to our attention. We used those tables throughout the night and the guests loved them. We offered to buy all wine and apps for the table for their inconvenience and we were very apologetic for the situation. I showed the lady her reservation on the computer and she informed us she had given us a home phone and that's why they did not confirm, so the reservation was not lost and the guests knew this. The guests were very displeased and nothing we could offer would make it better, a gentleman in the group used profanity in front of other guests, including children, towards us as they stormed away angry. Many patrons overheard and saw the situation and when they heard the reservation had not been confirmed they were very surprised at the behavior shown by the guests as we were trying to do everything we could to make them happy and would have taken care of the whole dinner to make sure they were happy if they would have given us the chance.

Customer service is very important to dashi as almost all our patrons would agree, we make mistakes like everyone but are quick to do all we can to repair the situation and have the guest leave happy. We would love to have the chance to make it right with the lady who made the reservation if she would allow us and would do whatever it took to show her that the customers needs come first to us and if we make mistakes we do all we can to own up to them and fix the problem. Thanks for taking the time to read this explanation and we hope it clarifies the situation that happened and helps inform your travel plans to beautiful Sun Valley.
