“Lovely relaxed hotel, great bar & food - no need to move”
Reviewed 23 October 2012

We found this fab hotel during our USA road trip in 2012, located in the centre of the small town of Lava Hot Springs. We were only planning on staying 1 night but loved it so must ended up staying another 2 nights. this hotel is in a perfect location and so relaxed and friendly service. We had Banjo Sam entertain us who is also a great storyteller. Loved this hotel and the location we will always remember it. We used the outdoor hot tubs and the private ones in the basement - loved them.
Would love to go back some day but if you get the chance stay here dont pass through you will be glad you did, say hi to Alfonso in the bar and hope you get to meet Banjo Sam.
We loved it.

We are "regulars" at the Riverside and have been for a number of years now. We treat ourselves & stay there every spring & fall. The staff treats us like royalty and makes our visit super fun & comfortable!! Kris was the 1st one who bent over backwards to make us comfortable, but Gail (the owner) & her entire staff are exactly the same way. If you need something, just ask for it & they will be sure to help!! Every time we visit we notice fresh paint, carpeting, furnishings and other improvements which are always constant in an older building. It's always fun to check out the rooms (vacant rooms have open doors) to see the new touches which have been added since our last visit. The restaurant has wonderful food & always uses fresh ingredients.( As a former restaurant owner myself, I quickly notice the freshness of the meat, produce etc.) We love the new soaking pool downstairs but also enjoy the rustic tub on the outdoor deck, where we can watch the trains & soak under the stars...... Oh, did I mention the superb couples massages we get each time from Corey and Glenda or Kathryn? They are the best!! The historic Riverside (built in 1914) may not be the newest place in town, but they are tops for food and hospitality!!!

Room Tip: Room 306 is roomy, has 3 large windows, a great view & sounds of the river!!!! Our personal favo...

We enjoyed staying at this quaint old inn. Not at all fond of the HUGE bison and moose heads in the main room, but as I quickly found out that was nothing in comparison to some other places we stayed and is to be expected in the west. We ate at the restaurant (not really any other viable choices "in town") - the server seemed overwhelmed with 2 tables - although she was very nice. The food was okay - pricey for location and portion. Room was small for 4, but clean. Bathroom was clean, but needs some new caulking. NO hairdryer. Breakfast included is nice to have when you're traveling and included yogurt and fruit. We did use the hot spring bath and that was nice. NOTE: there is a railroad essentially across the street - all I can say is thank God for ambien.

My wife and I spent two days in this charming old Inn. Room #305, if I could figure out how to put the bed on my Harley Davidson, I would have taken it home. The bed seemed smaller then a queen but it was such a comfortable bed, my wife and I did not want to get up and out of it. The room was a good size area and very clean. No fridge or microwave but that added to the old style. The room did have a TV, but not many channels to select from. The bathroom was a standard size and extremely clean –note for women no hair dryer. The water was nice and hot but a few times did go a bit colder for a brief moment during a normal shower. The soaking tubs located inside and down stairs in the Inn, were a warm welcome, once again very clean. We had dinner one night and breakfast which both meals were served hot and delicious. Hint, your in the middle of Idaho so seafood won't be as fresh as a market located on the coast but in" cow country" the beef was perfect. The potatoe is also something to brag about. Before departing we received a late check-out because we sign-up for a couple’s message. This was heaven served on a gold platter! The Hotel staff and Masseuse was very accommodating, professional and down to earth making it a priority; guests have the best experience possible. We look forward to another visit next year. Oh another note, the tube rentals for the River Run is discounted 50% if you stay in the hotel.

Room Tip: No swimming pools but the hot tubs located in the basement is my personal favorite. We had schedul...

This 98 year old inn has a great charm to it. It's worn around the edges, but who wouldn't be? The rooms are large and comfortable. The location is perfect for taking advantage of the hot spring pools and the river tubing. In the basement are large soaking tubs big enough for the whole family - and those are free with the room.

The lobby area was clearly designed for another era. Lots of chairs and porches and stuffed animal heads. Go downstairs and you will find a cozy bar area and a great restaurant - best we found in this town. The staff was clearly invested in the hotel's success and were friendly and accommodating.

Room Tip: If you have a large family, ask for the "apartment," otherwise known as Room 100. It has...

My Wife and I spent the night at this hotel and were very pleased. We stayed in room 200 and found it fairly large and quite clean. Used the 2 person tub in lower level (no extra charge) and had a massage (very reasonible price) and enjoyed both. Everyone on staff was very nice. We did not eat in the dining room so can't comment on that. Hotel is in a great setting, right on the river. If you stay on the first floor, be sure to take a walk upstairs to look around, hotel has a very historic feel. The town itself is very small with public mineral baths and a few hotels and places to eat.

my husband and I and another couple stayed one night here and it was horrible. There was no tv, no alarm clock or clock at all for that matter. There was no coffee pot in room and we had to share a bathroom. It smelled like old people live there. When we ordered breakfast they were out of salmon, and it took an hour to get served. I wouldnt recomend this to anyone. What a waste of $80.
