“Best Jet Boat Company on the Planet!”

Riverquest Excursions Day Tours
Reviewed 7 August 2013

We did the half day tour and couldn't have asked for better! Boat captain was funny and knowledgable about the area and history. Company has a contract with the Nature Conservancy and we were able to eat our lunch on the Conservancy property. A bonus we were NOT expecting! The tour was over too soon even though it WAS 6 hours. Don't know how the other jet boat companies operate, but I would recommend THIS one to ANYONE!!

We took the 1/2 day tour and was just right for a fun filled day. Butch, owner and captain, and Mark the first mate were the best. As other reviews stated, history information on the canyon was super. Price included a box lunch with your choice of meats. The only suggestion Butch, come on, give us 3 of those delicious cookies.

This was our first jet boat trip and first time to Hells Canyon. We had gorgeous weather and the tour could not have been better. Our captain and guide, Butch, shared the history of the river. He pointed out unusual geological formations, petroglyphs, Native American history and stories of early settlers. The scenery was breath taking. We saw deer, turkeys, golden eagles, Rocky Mountain Long Horn sheep. Loved the box lunch served at Garden Creek Ranch and the invitation to pick all the peach sized apricots from the orchard that we wanted! We enjoyed a relaxing extended stop over at the Ranch, waded and swam at the beach and found tadpoles in a shallow pool on the sandbar. We splashed through some white water and navigated through the narrowest passage in Hells Canyon. Went about 60 miles up river and on the speedy return trip thrilled with the rushing wind and white water spray. Maybe because our group happened to be mostly older people, our time on the river was extended by over 2 hours. We had a short bathroom stop at the National Park headquarters. Water and soft drinks were also provided on the boat.

We took the half-day jet boat tour of Hells Canyon last week. It is a beautiful place and we were lucky enough to see some deer, long horn sheep, turkeys and an eagle.

Lunch was great. Really enjoyed the fresh-off-the-tree apricots from their orchard.

Staff was knowledgeable and friendly.

It rained off and on most of the day but that just meant we had to put the windows up and down.

It was a pretty subdued trip. I was expecting more excitement / rapids but it was enjoyable nonetheless. I'm glad we only did a half-day. It would not have held my interest for a full day.

All in all, it was a fun day with the family!

The half day tour was fun and interesting. Butch, our guide and the business owner, was knowledgeble and informative. The boat was comfortable, at least with our less than full numbers. You can't beat the scenery or the small thrill of going over the rapids. The stop for lunch at Garden Creek Ranch was great. They provided a nice box lunch and sodas. There was a deck with tables as well as an indoor seating area. The deck provided a view across the river of the border between Washington and Oregon. There is also a small beach, suitable for swimming. There was Nez Perce storyteller that was traveling with a second group in another boat. Butch was flexible with the schedule so we were able to spend extra time at the lunch stop to listen to him. Over all, we were very happy with experience and felt is was well worth the cost.
