“Soak in the glorious scenery and rustic conditions”
Reviewed 27 October 2009

This is a gem of a place if you can go without running water, electricity, or central heat/air. A wood stove provided us with heat for the two days we stayed and each cabin has an outhouse. There was a wall of cut wood to feed the stove and oil lamps for light in the evening.

The spring was AWESOME. The water was clear and you can barely smell the sulfur. The pool was well constructed with smooth pebbles on the floor. The main pool was like a warm swimming pool while the "hot" spring was over 100 degree F. It was one of the hottest I have visited. Because of its remote location it was not too crowded on a Sunday and the view was lovely. At night you could see thousands of stars and hear the wood crackling in the stove.

Just come prepared for "basic" conditions - or stay at a motel in nearby McCall and just visit the springs. I have a real appreciation for pioneer living after that weekend.

Stayed here for 2 nights in July. Initial impressions pretty awful - dilapidated accommodation and no shortage of signs saying what you can't do - but we unloaded the car and settled in to the cabin... Wonderful hikes nearby - try Josephine Lake for example. The hot springs consist of a swimming pool sized area of water at warm bath temperatures and a small feeder pool that was really hot. Residents can use the pool after sundown and this is the prime reason for staying (rather than camping at a fraction of the price in the campsite 300 yards away); enjoying the warm springs and watching the night stars are just magnificent.

Overall, this site is a huge missed business opportunity; there is no electricity, no running water, nowhere to wash or clean cooking equipment, no attempt made to provide services of any kind. Can see why some visitors would be hugely disappointed but with the right attitude and expectations this is a neat break. And with the right business approach it could be exceptional.

nice locale, owner needs to learn how to communicate with guests without being insulting. Multiple complaints.

Burfdorf Hot Springs is about 30 miles north of the city of McCall. It is worth the trip up to the hot springs. Beautiful country on the way and when you get there you think that John Wayne should be standing there. Very pretty area and remote. Great hot springs. One end of the pool is 104 dgrees and the exit ofthe springs is about 98. o ge there you take Warren Wagon Road North out of te city of McCall.
