I can't think of a better way to see the Salmon River and have a unique Idaho experience than a trip with Salmon Raft. The staff was enthusiastic, encouraging and welcoming. Our guide, Chris, was knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable although we had limited white water experience. The one-day trip was a perfect combination of relaxation and adventure! I would highly recommend Salmon Raft for a great experience.

Salmon Raft was recommended to us by Hells Canyon Rafting since we were only looking for a 1 day excursion for the whole family - 6, 12, 30, 35, and 57.

The planning and information from Salmon Raft was thorough from the beginning. Very informational, flexible as we were trying to coordinate family, and very responsive.

Salmon Raft offers transportation from McCall to Riggins for $15 a person. Since, we were already staying in McCall - we followed them up at no charge. Riggins is about 1 hour away. We first went to the end point to drop off our car and then road with Chris and crew to the launch site.

Not too often you have the owner of the company be your guide - but this was a great treat for us. We loved that we had a private rafting day. Other companies had 3 rafts in the water together, but we had a more personalized experience.

An unexpected surprise was the option for anyone to use the inflatable kayak. We had one adult take the kayak all the way down the river. Another great surprise was the fact that our raft did not require our group to paddle. Salmon raft does have rafts that require all to paddle - however, being guide down the river was the perfect experience for our family. They provide water proof bags to keep items you dont want to get wet. I love taking photos - so I brought a ziplock bag with point and shoot camera to keep handy for pictures along the way. But you will definitely need to seal it up during the Class 3 - some water leaked in, so a wash cloth rapped around the camera is recommended.

During calm water the group had the option to swim along side the boat. Life jackets are provided and required.

We spotted 3 deer, many birds, fireflies, butterflies, and minks on our float trip.

We stopped on a sandy beach for lunch which included a spread of Ham/Turkey sandwiches (they even brought PB&J for the kids), chips, potato salad, pickles, green olives, cookies, and more. While rafting, there were snacks provided like fruit snacks and granola bar.

During a portion of the trip, a 3rd party photo company in Riggins takes professional photos during one of the class 3 rapids. We were able to buy the 50+ photos of our group of 5 for only $40 with free shipping to our house. This was a great perk on the trip (not associated with Salmon rafting).

Dont forget to bring cash to tip the guides at the end. They do not accept credit card tip on the spot and they definitely deserve it.

Our experience with Salmon Raft was excellent from the beginning to end. Making reservations online, getting questions answered prior to the trip, and even rescheduling our trip due to illness was simple and stress free. Lauren was great to work prior to the trip and Chris and his guides were fantastic throughout our entire experience down the river.
They offered a variety of float options, from leisurely to more
adventurous float kayaking. Perfect for all experience levels. We plan on returning with friends to do an overnight two day trip soon.

Our experience with Salmon Raft was awesome! The team was warm, welcoming, and fun to be around. I had never been river rafting, and our guide Chris was really good at making us feel comfortable and at ease the entire way. He even brought along tons of great snacks! I was totally impressed by the expertise of the team and it was great to talk about the beauty and history of the area along the way. If you are looking for a fun and thrilling time with an experienced team, definitely go with Salmon Raft -- it will be an adventure you'll never forget.
