Description: Louie's Restaurant was born out of necessity in 1965. It wasn't so much that Ketchum-Sun Valley needed another restaurant. Louie Mallane, the founder and proprietor, used his Italian heritage and previous restaurant experience to fill the pizza niche in this small resort area. Living the American dream of owning your own business Louie opened up Ketchum's first Italian Restaurant. With a bank loan of $150, he purchased flour, mushrooms, napkins, and a few other necessary items. Then he rented the kitchen of Nedder's Bar and set up shop, making as many as 20 pizzas a day. Within six weeks, Louie had paid off his original loan. Six months later, he moved to expanded quarters in the Sawtooth Club. Louie was his own cook, and hired waitresses. The dining room sat 40 people, but the bar was soon expanded to the dining room. Two and one-half years later Louie's moved to a building which had been the first church in Ketchum. In the ensuing years it had also served as an espresso house and beer garden. After 35 wonderful years of business in the Ketchum-Sun Valley area Louie and his wife Margaret moved to Boise to be with their children and grandchildren. The people and the memories of the Ketchum restaurant have made such a positive impact on Louie and his family, but also touched the lives of many old employees and patrons as well. As the reputation for quality pizzas and Italian food grew Louie has always worked hard to give you, the customer, the best value for your dollar. Always experimenting with new recipes and using the freshest ingredients possible is the commitment Louie's is always giving to quality at a fair price.

“Still very good”
Reviewed 26 June 2014 via mobile

Although Louie's has certainly changed over the years and the prices have increased, the food is still good, the service excellent and the atmosphere very nice.

“Happy Hour Specials were a surprise”
Reviewed 11 June 2014

We were hungry about 4:00 pm on a weekday. We had never tried Louie's, but had driven by several times. We were the first of the early dinner crowd. We were told that the happy hour specials were available, along with dinner. The specials were "lunch size" versions, and were "just right" for what we wanted. The sauce was tasty and not over-spiced to take away from the other flavors. It was evident that we lucked into a great deal and great food.

“Good Food, OK Service, Pricey”
Reviewed 23 May 2014 via mobile

We went here for a birthday party.
We had around 20 or so people in our party.
The service was ok, but I felt rushed every time the next course of food was brought out.
The steak I ordered was good but not remarkable.
Of all the dishes ordered that night, the majority of the people in our party agreed that the garlic bread was the most delicious part of the meal.

“If you like cheap, then this is the place for you!”
Reviewed 9 May 2014

There are a handful of fine servers at this establishment.

Judging by the appearance of the building, the consistency of the food, the prices of the cheap wines they offer, and how they wash your dishes in the back is utterly cheap, dissappointing, and a sign that the management crew here is careless.

Countless times this restaurant has only had cold water to work with in the winter, and still proceeded to cook and serve guests by simply ignoring it.

The only thing fresh here, is the salad and soup.

“Great place to eat for a large group!”
Reviewed 9 April 2014

We had a group of over 40 people for a birthday party on Saturday. The family style italian food was the best...fresh salad, homemade pizza and pasta! I LOVED it!
