Description: The first inkling of an idea for the Sandpiper Restaurants came to original founder Bob Angell as he lounged on the beaches of California. While attending college he enjoyed watching the sandpipers darting in and out of the surf, and after graduation Bob moved back home to Boise, Idaho, where he opened the first of many Sandpiper Restaurants in 1971. From its humble beginnings in Boise, the Sandpiper grew until there were locations in Oregon, Arizona, and a total of four in Idaho. After several owner and management changes, there are currently two locations still open in Idaho. The Idaho Falls location was opened in 1974 by Ron Obendorf, who is still the manager. The Pocatello location opened in 1975 and has been managed by Rod Russell since 1985. Rose Anne Voigt came on as a member of the management team in 1995. Always intended to be casual fine dining restaurants specializing in steaks, seafood and pastas, the Sandpiper Restaurants continue to enjoy great popularity. Our guests have consistently bestowed us with Best Restaurant, Best Steak and Seafood, Best Fine Dining, and Best Date Place awards. Both locations offer outside dining during the beautiful Idaho summer and fall, as well as facilities for larger gatherings.

Would recommend reservations as this restaurant is one of the best in Pocatello, ID. The wait sometimes is a while and the prices are a little on the higher side but it is definitely the place for a special dinner or celebration. Would recommend this as a must for a special meal out.

Driving through Pocatello, husband and I ate at this restaurant as it was across the street from our hotel. Started with the bread and oil, the house shrimp salad then prime rib dinners with red wine. We had a great time! The town had a basketball tournament for some younger kids, all the hotels were full so the restaurant was full by 6 pm as a result.
Our waiter did an amazing job! There was a minor issue with my entree and he went the extra mile to ensure it was fixed. We appreciated his attentiveness and we were very impressed.
Food was amazing, service was awesome and we will go back.
It is suited for families and small groups and it has a casual dress code. The decor is not fancy but if you don't get hung up on that sort of thing, then you need to go!
No amazing view, and not really a place for a romantic dinner. Recommend reservations.

The service is rather iffy depending on the server. Some are attentive, others not so much. But the food is good and you can adjust your choices. I would like to see more choices but understand that no one restaurant can not accommodate a large menu.

My review is based on dining there over several years. The food selection is very good, but generally basic, not overly doctored to the point of obscurity. The service I've received has always been first rate, all the way from the servers to the manager. The atmosphere is very pleasant, although it can get a little loud in the lounge area. In the summer the deck is wonderful. My biggest gripe is the parking is sometimes sparse, which I guess speaks well to the popularity of the place.
