Having stayed here several times for work, I wanted to write a comparison vs. the competition like the nearby Hamptom Inn. The bed sheets and comforter could feel crisper, thicker, even cleaner. The bath towels as well feel thin and kind of cheap. During most stays, the lobby coffee pot is empty in the evenings. This stay, the coffee was empty during breakfast, and there was little food. Speaking of food, the only protein is a set of cold hard boiled eggs. Otherwise, it is all carbs. The staff is friendly and helpful if asked, and the facilities are clean.

As Towneplace Suites go, this one is well staffed and well run. It is located directly across the freeway from Idaho State Univerity campus. The knock for me, and still is, are the thin soundproofing in the walls that are in all TP Suites. You can hear your neighbors speak and their TV. I should have insisted on a top floor corner room as I am a light sleeper and families next store and up stairs from me made lots of noise. They can't really help it they have kids that want to play in the room and they are many time loud in doors, even at midnight! As a kid I can remember the jopy of jumping on the bed in a motel or hotel, or having a pillow fight. The wall pounding and bumping and ceiling stomping and thumping can make for a long night. You can get noise in any hotel but these properties by Marriott are not well constructed to reduce noise and it's been that way for me since my first stay at TP Suites back in the 1990's on the east coast.

I asked for additional room amentities and they were in my room upon arrival. The suites all have a smal kitchen and living room with the bedroom separated. The elevator was quick enough and the indoor pool and spa was a nice touch when it was -6 degrees outside.

The breakfast is more than continental and with some hot items and fruit it was just fine by me. I like Oatmeal when I can get it and they had that and waffles. The only knock on the food service is that in the cold of winter they need to keep their coffee station full all day and night long! Or add hot cider which some hotels do in the winter. Almost every time I went for coffee they were drained.

They have a nice lobby and gathering area with a fireplace and big flat screen TV with comfortable seating. For the life on me in the very cold weather we encountered I don't know why the fireplace was off! Asthetics alone would have dictated that the fireplace be on at sometime during the day whether it heats or not. Maybe is was broken? The Regional Medical Center is located just beyond and up on a hill a block or so above the property, but I never heard any noice from it.

Beds are a little firm but were mostly comfortable. All the amenities where there in the bath, kitchen and closet. I did call for a luggage rack for my bedroom and an extra blanket and pillows. In the living area there is a queen sofa sleeper for an extra guest. Ruby Tuesday Restaurant is right out front and my favorite place in Pocatello is one off ramp north up I-15 the Sandpiper. Reservations are always advised.

Senior rates are lower at age 62+ or if you belong to AAA use their rates. All rooms are non-smoking, so if you don't like tobacco smoke this is a good choice.

Room Tip: Face east or west that's your choice but do it on either the bottom floor on the top floor.

I can't think of anything negative to say about this place, it was great for the price (I used booking.com). The room was very clean, it had a nice view (4th floor), and it had a welcoming comfortable vibe. I especially liked the interior decor and kitchen area. The popcorn and cookies were a nice touch.

Room Tip: I recommend the king suite for couples.

I was recently traveling for business and was booked into this motel. As I was driving in a rock hit my windshield. At check in I asked if there was a glass repair place near and was immediately directed to the location by the motel manager. The rest of my stay mirrored this helpful, friendly manner.

The rooms were very well kept and pleasantly furnished with all one would need for an extended stay. Within walking distance are some of the best restaurants in Pocatello, I'm told, and I can verify the Ruby Tuesdays was excellent.

Pocatello is not a major market so there are a limited number of hotel choices. But this one is in the Marriott family of hotels so it is a reliable selection. I could find very little to really recommend this place other than I know it will be clean and well maintained. There is no landscaping to speak of, no restaurant and I don't remember seeing a pool but I was in town for business and not really looking.

The rooms are mini suites with kitchenettes so there is slightly more room to stretch out. The views are either nearby commercial strip or the barren hills behind the hotel.

There are nearby restaurants (I recommend the close-by Sandpiper) or you can go into Pocatello. There are some fun places on 1st Street, an area of reclaimed buildings that offer brew houses, wine bars and a bit of funky nouveau western atmosphere. This is an area where locals and travelers mix with professors and students from the near-by university. Live music on the weekends.
