My husband and I came to Talus Rock after a different hotel reservation in Sandpoint turned out to be subpar. We called last minute to check on vacancy and by some miracle they still had a room available! We arrived and felt instant warmth. Owner Heather opened the door and said how happy she was we were there, a sentiment echoed minutes later by Rebekah, who works there. Both women were approachable, friendly and laid back; ready to help us with our bags and answer any questions we had about the house or the town. We were then greeted by some of the other guests and liked everyone so much that we spent the night in, hanging out at the dining table with some of the others. If a social trip isn't your thing, don't be deterred; there were guests in the house that we didn't see the entire time we were there. The house is massive so you can have as much privacy as you want. The common area can accommodate a number of people and is far enough from the bedrooms to keep the house quiet. Heather and Rebekah were committed to making sure we had all the comforts our hearts desired, but also gave us space. The house is a 5 minute drive from downtown Sandpoint, achieving both remoteness and accessibility. We'd planned to stay one night but were enjoying our time so much we booked in for a second night. Both nights we stayed in the Kipling room. It's a worldly, relaxing room with a king size bed and a balcony that overlooks the 18-acre property, with breathtaking views of the mountains. The room has treasures from Heather's time abroad and intricate mosaic tiling in the bathroom, as well as an oversized jacuzzi tub and a gorgeous copper sink. We basically felt like royalty for the time we were there, without breaking the bank. We're hoping for a return trip soon :)

I have yet to find a place as wonderful as this. Thank you, Talus Rock! Clean. Peaceful. Private. Kindest People. You guys are amazing. How you accomodated our circumstances is beyond belifef and we are so appreciative. I loved having my own "kitchen/sitting room" off to the side in the house. The themes of the home are fabulous and so interesting, calling attention to different parts of the world. Your fireplace is awesome. Most of all, I love sitting in your chair in front of the most beautiful scenic views and feeling a peace that passes all understanding. Thank you, Heather, for your Mission and your heart for people and third-world children. Blessings to You.

My husband and I had the wonderful pleasure of staying at the Talus Rock Retreat this April. Our stay in the Arbor Room was an excellent choice for us! The room and this property are spectacular, and so is the incredible hospitality extended by our host Heather. Sandpoint is a great place and everywhere we went, locals we met expressed the same enthusiasm that we have for Heather (and her family) and Talus Rock Retreat. Thank you Heather for a very blessed experience!

This was our first B&B experience, and we were a bit apprehensive, Needlessly so.
This was not about going into a strangers home - this was more like visiting an old friend.
We were made to feel so welcome and so comfortable. Heather is Great. Her home is absolutely amazing. We found it very peaceful and quiet. We definitely plan on returning.
Would highly recommend.

We stayed, sadly, only one night in the Arbor room. We sprung our arrival on Heather, arriving at least a couple hours early due to time-zone confusion. (I say "at least" because we still aren't really sure just how off our schedule was that day!) Even though Heather had a million and one things to do before we were supposed to be there, she dropped everything for just enough time to welcome us with a warm hug and a little info about their amazing place!! I must say, this house is magnificent. We're very outdoorsy people and could NOT get enough of the decor! Obviously you can tell just by the pictures the Arbor room is amazing but the true beauty is in all of the wonderful minor details of the room. Truly have to be seen to be fully appreciated. The room is a very bright one in the morning, due to the gorgeous vaulted windows, but comfy sleep masks are provided and once they're slipped on the extremely comfy bed takes it from there! Our stay was warm and magical, to say the least!

We were gifted a stay at the Talus Rock Retreat so had no idea going into it what to expect. Let me just say, from the moment we drove up we were blown away! You are greeted by a gorgeous castle-like exterior that instantly lets you know you are in for something special. Everything about this place is inviting and warm, especially the hosts. Their heart for people is clear and while going into it I wasn't sure about staying in a strangers home, after just 1 night we felt like we were already friends. We are excited to not only visit again and again, but to share this gem with our loved ones as well. I am looking forward to returning in the warmer months and getting to explore the gorgeous property as well.

Room Tip: After touring all the rooms I would highly recommend the Arbor Room for any couple looking for a rom...

Amazing place, the home looks like it is 100 years old, beautifully conceived, built to high standard, decor is fascinating, fellowship even better!
Would highly recommend this to anyone needing some respite.
No sign for Talus Rock itself, so pay attention to excellent directions!
(North Division is just Division on the sign.)
Excellent location, so close to Sandpoint and Ponderay!
