“I would stay again”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 September 2012

I thought it was a bit pricey for the room, but I am guessing other hotels/motels in Sandpoint are astronomical. The owner/manager was very friendly and helpful. Great location to walk to nearby restaurants.

Typical $70 room. Small, no closet or coffee maker. Coffee and some nice breakfast snacks are in the lobby, but not until 7am. Blowdryers and irons are available for the asking. Beds are old and soft. Basically clean. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The best part is the location. You can walk everywhere in town.

We stated at K-2 on August 18. Because of a reservation snafu, Dana was going to find us another room elsewhere at no cost to us. Turns out, a room became available and we were glad to pay (the very reasonable rate). Quaint, 50ish style motel, but very clean and comfortable. Dan and Sheldon couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating. It's within a short walk to attractions, liquor store, restaurants, the beach. Of course, getting there involves a host of Idaho visuals--mountains, lakes, etc. We'd gladly stay there again and would recommend it enthusiatically.

My honey and I bought last-minute tickets to the Festival in Sandpoint. It seemed like a great spur-of-the-moment idea. Then I tried to find a room. With the Best Western fully booked and La Quinta asking over $250 for their remaining rooms (not that those are really our style anyway), I went digging. Then I stumbled into the K2 Inn online. I called and got one of the last two rooms for the night. We ended up with the 2 bedroom suite, which at $129 during Festival in Sandpoint is apparently quite a screaming good deal. It's one of those gems that I just LOVE to find: an older motel than someone with a vision has taken over and refurbished. It reminded me of Hotel Ruby in Spokane, The Modern in Boise, or the Jupiter Hotel in Portland: supremely cool, and supremely well priced. The beds were comfortable, and the air conditioner worked wonders (once I realized I had to set it on Cool and not just on Fan). I will definitely stay at the K2 again. Though... I will probably plan more than a day in advance to come visit Sandpoint during Festival.

Last week our traveling companions were hospitalized due to a motorcycle accident. Dana and Sheldon not only gave us the medical rate on the room but went out of their way each day to accommodate our needs as circumstances unfolded. This all occured during festival time in Sandpoint when demands on accommodation were at the highest. I cannot say enough about the care and understanding they exhibited during this challenging tiime.
This would not have happened at a large chain motel.

Thanks so much!

The K-2 was exactly what we had hoped for..... a reasonably priced lodging offering very clean accomodations in an excellent downtown location. The staff was cheerful and most helpful with suggestions, leading us to a delightful meal at the "Secret Thai". We were very impressed with the general pride of management from comments like...."we are trying hard to improve the K-2's standards" to "our continental breakfast serves only food that we would enjoy eating ourselves". If you are looking for a modest, friendly and clean room in the downtown area, it would be hard to beat the K-2.
