My second visit to Sweet Magnolia B&B was even better than the first visit. The hosts are very accomadating and friendly. The location is walking distance to downtown. Coffee and Breadfast were prompt and wonderful.

We have been to the Sweet Magnolia B&B three times in the last 12 months. Prior to finding it, we were at a few local hotels and a condo at Schweizter. Sweet Magnolia is our preferred place to stay. The accommodations are comfortable, the breakfast is excellent, the breakfast conversations are fun. The location is a short walk to the local restaurants, so is very convenient. I wholeheartedly recommend staying here.

We enjoyed our stay at this B&B. The host was very knowledgeable about the area and he is a great breakfast cook. The local bacon is delicious!! Sweet Magnolia is located close to town within walking distance of a number of yummy restaurants.

We stayed one night in Sandpoint on the way back to Canada. The home is pretty and well maintained, and is just a two minute walk from the centre of town. Cal greeted us warmly and we enjoyed a glass of wine on the pretty wrap around veranda. Unfortunate that the front view is of a large empty unused lot, perhaps 80 by 50 yards. On the far side of the lot is a rather busy road.
We rate the attractive Sweet Magnolia 'average' because of what was missing, given the fairly steep price. There were tea bags and cups on a table in the common area, but no means of boiling water. Breakfast was quite good, but not varied or plentiful. The coffee was mediocre if you like it strong. On the other hand, we very much enjoyed chatting with Cal and Jill, as well as the other guests at breakfast that day. With a couple of added touches and a slightly reduced price, we would recommend staying here more strongly.

Wow, our first sorta bad review...I am really sorry that you felt as you did about your stay here. We have never served a breakfast that did not have plenty of food left over, but we do have the quantities fairly well dialed in and do not like to waste too much food. We always ask at arrival about any dietary constaints so that we offer foods that our guests can eat. We must have had a bad day, because everyone who comments loves the breakfast and the coffee, which is locally roasted.
There is a microwave on the table right next to the tea or you could simply ask and we provide hot water or coffee at any time. I try to tell each guest that if they need something, just ask.

Our rates are seasonal and July - Sep are our busy months here - we charge accordingly in order to accomplish our business objective of surviving the slow months.

Please read our other reviews, we must be doing something right!

We had an excellent stay at Sweet Magnolia! Five stars - thank you Cal and family for making our stay in Sand Point more special. My husband and I were traveling from Seattle for our ten-year wedding anniversary trip, and at the last minute decided to treat ourselves to a bed and breakfast rather than a plain old motel. Cal, the owner, was really friendly and accommodating of our last-minute reservation request. Very responsive and communicative. The inn is spotless with dark hardwood floors, bright windows with lots of sunlight, and beautifully decorated - we had a California King size bed that was super comfy. This is a family operation so at least one of the kids was on-site to help out. Breakfast was an egg casserole and homemade granola and morning glory muffins with fruit - very tasty and all made in house - and great coffee too. Cal and his wife gave us plenty of recommendations for places to eat in the area (and they were right). The inn is also supremely located and walking distance to everything in downtown Sandpoint - the beach, bars, shops and all. It was great to be able to have a few pints at the brewery and then walk back.

No need to stay at a hotel if you're in Sandpoint - Sweet Magnolia is very much worth the price and Cal and family are wonderful. A real treat!

My husband and I stayed at the Sweet Magnolia during a recent ski trip to Schweitzer Mountain. The B&B is ideally located in the center of Sandpoint. We were offered a very comfortable room with a private bath on the second floor. Although the room and wireless internet definitely met our needs, the highlight was getting to know our hosts Cal and Jill. It was like being at a friend's home. They went out of their way to ensure an enjoyable visit updating us on ski reports, local cuisine, etc. The breakfasts were bountiful and delicious. Sweet Magnolia is a great value and much more interesting than the standard hotel-motel in Sandpoint. We hope to return in the summer!
