Diamond D deserves the high ratings it gets on Trip Advisor. The family that owns it does a really great job of making everyone feel welcome. The accomodations are very nice. We stayed in one of the cabins, which was roomy, quiet and away from the main buildings. The food is served family style and well prepared. There is good fishing but fishing in the creeks is a bit of a challenge as access can be a bit of a hike through undergrowth. Most of the creekside is brushy so it is a good idea to have a family member describe where the best access points are. Horseback rides are nice with great scenery and knowledgeable wranglers.
The only caveat worth noting is that the road to the ranch (from Stanley) is mostly a rocky dirt road. Plan on almost 2 hours to go 20 miles. While efforts are made to maintain the road, the winters are harsh and there are a lot of sizable rocks in the road. If we go again, we will look into the option of going in a small plane.More
