IMy wife and I were there for the jazz festival. The beds are very comfortable, the rooms decorated nicely and there is a separate make-up sink area outside the bath. The hot water pressure in the shower left something to be desired and it drained slowly, but was clean. One nice feature unusual in nice hotels is free wi-fi throughout. Unfortunately most of the reasons of remodeling and off-season, several of the on-site restaurants/ cafes were closed, but Gretchen's in the Lodge was nice.

Room Tip: Our room was second (top) floor, which I recommend.

The Sun Valley Inn is very impressive with its extremely well trained staff, interior decor, in room amenities, and its proximity to a cluster of shops and a few restaurants. I was there to attend a convention and even the banquet, luncheon and breakfast meals were pretty good. What I was disappointed at were hotel details such as the older style bath tub faucets, inconsistent hot water control while showering. Had these details been addressed i would have rated the facility "excellent."

We stayed here a few nights ... It required some real patience to finally get a room to our liking. The surrounding area is beautiful with little streams, golf courses, tiny lakes, a variety of shopping and even a small movie theater. A really good place to let kids roam around without too much worry, since most of the surrounding area is closed to traffic and there's plenty of enticing open space. A nice attarction is the ice-skating ring nearby and the restaurant Gretchen were we ate once on the large open patio (the location seemed more interesting than the food there).

The S.V. Inn itslelf looks like some sort of oversized Tyrolian structure which could have been designed by Haensel and Gretel. The downside is that in spite of the relatively high price, the room we stayed in at the Inn was so cramped that my wife and I had to take turns to just move around the bed. I almost got a hernia trying to open that prison-size window to finally get some fresh mountain air into the room. After this somewhat claustrophopic experience we luckily found a much better place to stay, half a mile down the road in Ketchum, and a lot closer to all the dining amenities.

Expensive rooms but a very beautiful setting. The Inn has had a major overhaul and is much better than before. Nice for couples retreat. Conference center is very nice. IMO room is overpriced even in summer when there's not as much to do in the area, but still an enjoyable stay.

We spent three nights at this wonderful place and can't wait to bring our whole family back for a great vacation. There is something for everyone to do here, bikes, hikes, ice skating, tennis, golf, and just lots of space to run around outside. It is an easy walk to Ketchum and all that town has to offer. The room was large and very comfortable and quiet. The inn has a van to drive you almost anywhere you would like to go so renting a car isn't a necessity.

We stayed in a lodge room with a view of the outdoor ice skating rink. Very surprised to see it being used by so many in the middle of July. Absolutely amazing that they can keep the ice in place. The room was very comfortable and clean. The entire resort is very self contained with wonderful restaurants and places to wander. The golf course is also very nice. The little town of Ketchum right next door is a great little walking town with numerous restaurants and shops. Don't miss a visit to Ernest Hemingway's grave just outside of downtown Ketchum. Also, we took two cable cars up to the top of Old Baldy and it is a fantastic view.

Room Tip: Room with an ice skating view was wonderful.

I stayed here for three nights as part of a small (200) conference. The room was very comfortable and roomy although there was not much for the business traveler...no desk or comfortable work chair, just a round glass-topped table with two straight-backed, cane bottomed chairs. There are plenty of dining options on the resort property and we were lucky that the weather wasn't so harsh that the walks between buildings didn't involve snow drifts! The conference facilities were also very nice and comfortable, although the heat was on so high everyone was shedding layers of clothing.

The town of Ketchum is very close and the resort has shuttles every 15 minutes to the downtown area as well as the ski areas.

The staff at the Inn, Lodge and shops was phenomenal! They truly understand hospitality and service!
