We stayed in a comfortable and cheery room, the cheapest one, I think, but it was charming. Were only there one night in the shoulder season, but took full advantage of the hot outdoor pool and sauna. The lady at the sauna gets special commendation for being lovely. For $140/night, it was a fun experience, though we found cheaper and adequate accommodation elsewhere for the other nights. Probably better to eat in town, too.

I recently stayed at the Sun Valley Lodge and found the overall experience wonderful. I arrived late at night from NYC and the lodge had a very kind driver come and pick me up. The lodge itself was charming - very old school in a good way! The staff were helfpul, the rooms clean and there was lots to do.

We loved staying at the Lodge, because of the convenience of everything. We ice skated on the rink every day we were there. We walked to the Nordic center to go cross country skiing. We walked into Ketchum several times along the fabulous paved trail. We could have taken the shuttle to town, but it was such an easy walk. Access to the downhill skiing was also easy--just get on the shuttle. We also used the hot outdoor soaking pool. Nice! They also had a bowling alley in the building, which we intended to use but never did.

As a hotel, the place is also great. The rooms are well appointed. The beds are comfortable. The windows open if you want some fresh air! There is free Wifi, something I don't even think the Lodge touts in its materials, so it was a welcome surprise. They also offer laptops for guests to use. The in-room climate control works great. This is important to me, as I have spent nights roasting in other hotel rooms, where it didn't seem to matter where you set the thermostat. There was also a fridge in the room, not an honor bar, but an empty fridge. We really appreciated this, as we could put milk for coffee in there. Overall, I just had a sense that the staff at the Lodge was intent on making sure we had a good time. much appreciated. Free transport to and from the airport was also appreciated. I hope to stay here again.

Everything about our stay was superb. The staff, the service, the facilities; all of the first order. although not inexpensive, it seemed to be significantly more reasonable than other first class ski resort main lodges at which we have stayed. Our trip was enhanced by the fact that Sun Valley was the only ski area in its class with abundant snow!

This was a special get together with friends to experience snowboarding in Idaho for the first time. We got a great pre-season deal on two nights with two adult 2-day passes to both Dollar and Bald Mountains. Service at the lodge was excellent, the rooms are beautifully maintained and updated while keeping the original style and charm. We had a balcony room overlooking the ice rink. It would have been wonderful to have more time to soak up all the amazing possibilities there--ice skating, swimming, hiking, snow sports, dining, shopping, bowling, etc. We focused on snowboarding and the 100 degree pool for soaking afterwards. Even with some technical difficulties with the temp around 90 instead of 102 the pool was fantastic. We also experienced a power outage for a couple of hours but it was a small hitch and made for memories. The hotel staff could have provided a little more communication about the outage and what guests should do, whether keys to rooms would work, etc, but they kept a calm, relaxed atmosphere. Overall, a great stay with the deal on the price but out of our budget otherwise with regular season prices.

Arrived Tuesday before T-Day & departed on the Saturday following. Had a medium King room on second floor overlooking the outdoor skating rink. Bed was excellent, plenty of space in room, w/a large walk-in closet, refrigerator, plenty of drawers, tv,dvd, cd, etc. Bathroom had only a single sink & a small glass ledge counter but a terrific Toto toilet.

Because of the spacious layout of the facilities, we did not feel crowded in the public areas even during the peak holiday time w/lots of families & children bustling about. The lodge has a great feeling of history & elegance. Nicely appointed common areas, great heated (100 degrees) outdoor pool, sauna, exercise room, bowling alley, ice skating, hockey, etc. The Lodge dining room is only open for Sunday brunch (busy times of year) & special holidays. Very elegant environment & meal.

Highly recommended if you would like to have an active (or inactive) winter getaway in a gorgeous area.

The service at this hotel was impeccable, however the rooms were certainly not what I expected at a 4 star resort. This hotel is 75 years old and it appears that nothing has been updated in the entire 75 years! We booked a medium king room. It was so small that I can't imagine how small a standard room must be! The bathroom was not big enough for one, let alone 2! The shower was so small that it was impossible not to bump into the dirty shower curtain constantly! The sink and toilet were both small and very low - it was hard to bend down that low! In addition, there is no counter space! No room to do make-up, hair, or anything like that. Luckily, there is a very nice locker room facility downstairs near the pool, and we did most of our showering and getting ready in the locker room. The staff at this hotel was very nice and typical of what I would expect at a four star resort, but the rooms were not 4-star rooms. I have stayed in nicer rooms at Holiday Inn Express. I would recommend booking a suite, or not going at all. For the price we paid, we definitely expected a nicer room. On the up-side, we had a great view of the ice skating rink from our window and it was fun to watch the ice skaters at night.

Room Tip: My medium room was too small. Don't book anything smaller than a deluxe.
