We stayed in La Casa to celebrate a good friend's birthday. We believe ha had a good time as we all did! The accomodations were really nice and very well kept. From the overall feel of the resort, the magnificent view from our suits and the friendly staff, I highly recommend La Casa!
It felt like we were home but in a more up scale version, the rooms and amenities were really nice and comfortable. WHile there, we enjoyed all the resources the resort offers like the pool, hot tub, basketball court, pool table, and we even rented an ATV and had some good runs around the resort.
You can't beat the view and you can't complaine about the staff, eveywhere you look is an amazing view of Kelowna from the resort and the staff were always happy to lend a hand. Overall a wonderful experience!

Hi MrsCharron, thank you for taking the time to write a review of La Casa Cottage Resort on tripadvisor. Your trip advisor review states you stayed with us in January, but I’m wondering if perhaps you stayed with us in the summer as our amenities are usually only available between May long weekend and Thanksgiving? In any case, very happy you took advantage of them during your stay, and that you were able to use your ATV. We take a lot of pride in our staff, and are happy you found them to be so helpful. Please come back to see us again, soon!

We stayed here for a short getaway. It was ideal for our time away. The price was amazing for what it included. Thoroughly satisfied with exceptionally clean and cozy accomodations. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this as a destination regardless of the season! Fully satisfied customer! We will definitely be back!

I stayed at La Casa Resort for a few weeks vacation. Coming from someone who has stayed there for quite awhile, I feel I need to offer my p.o.v.

The cottages are unique in the way that they offer you privacy and give you a homey feel (your own driveway and patio) versus a hotel-feel where the whole family is packed in like sardines.

The views are spectacular! there are a few hidden neat spots where benches and chairs are placed to give you a view overlooking the Okanagan Lake and mountains. There is the view point where you could picnic and see a gorgeous view of the whole resort and lake. You have to explore a little to find these spots but they are worthwhile.

The resort has a Kayak/Paddleboard kiosk rental down at the beach and their rental prices are at a ridiculously low price. A cheap price can cover your whole family. A favorite spot is a lighthouse which is a 30 minute kayak and you jump off into the water.

The beach itself is beautiful with mountain view where you could see the wineries across the lake. They have nicely built decks where you can sun tan and picnic but you'll have to go in the morning to get a spot on busy weekends.
Most of the area of the beach consists of pebbles and rocks because there are salmon habitats nearby, but if you look around there are some hidden spots where it is sandy. I suggest that you bring sandals or water shoes. They also have water trampolines, slides, and tubes where your kids try to run as far as possible before they hit the water.

It's a resort set on a hill so you will need some form of transportation to get around. If you are physically fit and love running this is a haven for you. If walking is not for you at all, they have golf cart rentals available.

They have a restaurant where you order your food and enjoy a lunch on the deck that overlooks the lake. However the downside is they close at 6 in evening and have no waitress.

There are two pools you have access to, I particularly like the one that sits on top of the hill and has a mountain view from the hot tub. It is regularly maintained by the staff and is enjoyable for noon and evening time relaxation.

There are volleyball courts, mini golf, basketball, and tennis for those who want to keep active and play sports for the family.

The staff are friendly, one of them (Lem) has been very helpful at the kiosk, hauling all those kayaks and paddleboards for my family even though it looked arduous.

Overall I come out with a positive experience, having spent time with family and friends.
Rested, destressed, and re-energized. Apologies for the exhaustive list but I hope it helps you out.

Room Tip: Book ahead of time.

This was our second holiday at La Casa and if you looking to stay here, read the positive reviews, but take note of the "issues" people have. a) buy groceries in Vernon or Kelowna 1st. b) there are hills - you are on a mountain side. c) yes the road is curvy and a little narrow in spots, take your time - enjoy the drive you are on holidays? d) bring water shoes the beach is rocky, but so clean and was warmer this year. This is a great place to vacation - I only wish we had more then a week to enjoy it.
Negative this year - wasps were crazy bad this year!!!

Hi Heather,

Thank you for your trip advisor review, you make some excellent points: we certainly advise our guests to arrive at La Casa well prepared with groceries and supplies as well as to bring a pair of water shoes or waterproof sandals to fully enjoy the beach and the beautiful, clean lake.

We have our fingers crossed that the wasp issue experienced this year across the entire Okanagan was a one-time thing, and that in the future, wasps will pose little problems.

We look forward to seeing you again, and hope you’ll be able to stay longer next time! ;)

We booked La Casa as a weeks get away with our children (20,10 and 2) thinking it would offer a good variety of amenities, beach, pool, play areas, bistro, groceries and theatre. The beach isn't a beach, more a collection of rocks. The Bistro isn't a bistro more a fast food stand and the grocery store is worse than a 7/11 with even bigger inflated prices.
All outdoor equipment ie tennis rackets, kyacks etc are also chargeable so you really need to but a membership pass in order to use the facilities. The membership also allows you to have wifi which if not for that we would have gone mad. There is a DVD in the cottage but no DVD and the tv has the most basic of channels.
The trip to Kelowna is an unpleasant one as it runs along a road that has many twists and turns and some pretty hair raising drops. If you get car sick you will need some sick bags.
We will be leaving a day early as we are now bored if doing the same thing.
My advice is if you want to come to kelowna stay in kelowna and don't believe everything you see on the website as the pictures are only want they want to show you not the reality.

Hi there,
Sorry to hear your stay at La Casa did not meet your expectations. We pride ourselves on providing a remote getaway that has something for everyone: outdoor pools, a playground for young children, hot tubs, tennis, beach volleyball, mini-golf, a small, but somewhat rocky beach with direct access to the beautiful lake, hiking trails, use of kayaks, wifi, a convenient store which offers the basic necessities, a well-priced and delightful café, fully equipped, private cottages with decks and spectacular views as well as a professional and friendly staff and cleaning service.
Of course we understand not everyone is looking for the same thing out of their vacations, but hope the above-mentioned amenities and services satisfy or exceed the expectations of those guests who are looking for a peaceful vacation away from the busy city life.

As you mention, the road to La Casa can feel a bit daunting, but thankfully the B.C. government has seen fit to allot $1 million dollars to its’ improvement: we look forward to this providing easier access to the neighboring cities of Kelowna and Vernon for those guests who wish to break their vacation up with city visits, or pick up a few extra groceries or supplies.

We feel the photos on our website accurately depict La Casa Cottage Resort, its’ cottages and amenities, and have removed photos of the theater and previous restaurant as sadly these amenities are no longer available.

Thank-you again for your feedback, and should you have any further questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact us at: rentals@lacasacottageresort.com

La Casa is what it is and if you are thinking about staying there be sure you are clear about your expectations and you won't be disappointed. My family goes for a week every summer and they love it. La Casa offers exactly what we are looking for in a week at the lake.

If you are looking for a place away from the city, traffic, shopping, and bars and a place where kids are free to go out to play and explore and discover in a natural environment then you will probably love La Casa. If you are a couple who just want to disconnect, hike, boat or swim then you will likely be satisfied staying at La Casa. If that is not what you are looking for then you will likely be disappointed if you stay at La Casa.

The resort is 30-40 minutes to either Kelowna or Vernon depending on how fast you drive. It is 30 minutes to a golf course and 40 minutes to the base of Silver Star Ski Hill. If you want to golf or ski and these distances are inconvenient for you then don't stay at La Casa.

The road is windy, scenic, and dangerous in places but improving every year. Drive at a speed you are comfortable with and you will likely be fine. Do watch for deer and sheep. If these things scare you then don't stay at La Casa.

If you are looking for a resort with fine dining close by then don't stay La Casa. If you are more interested in cooking , family barbecues or roasting hot dogs in a fire pit down by the lake then La Casa will work just fine for you. Definitely buy your groceries before you come. The resort store is seasonal so make sure you check to see if its open before you come if it is important to you.

There are several negative comments about the beach at La Casa. It is true that it is not sandy so if you are looking for a place to lay on the beach everyday while your toddler plays in the sand, then definitely don't stay at La Casa. If you have active children who like be busy outdoors you can send them to the beach and they will happily spend the day fooling around on one of the three water trampolines, kayaking, swimming and definitely laughing. No one is going to bother them or tell them to be quiet. There are a few decks with chairs, logs and large rocks to sit on if you are a watcher. The pools are fine and there is no pool service, life guard or music.

All the cottages are about the same but it is important to know who you are renting from. Some owners offer their cottages on VRBO and some owners have their cottage in a rental program. Be sure you understand the difference. The rental program that has the website lacasacottageresort.com is a well organized rental program who have staff available to assist you and is the only one that washes their linens in a professional commercial laundry like a hotel. That is very important to me. I just think linens washed in a small home washer with tide are likely not as clean as those washed professionally.

Room Tip: Choose a pool side if you want to be next to the park or pool. Choose the upper resort if you reall...

Hi there, thank-you for your thoughtful and comprehensive review of your stay at La Casa Cottage Resort, as well as the many suggestions you make for future guests. We appreciate the positive feedback you provided regarding our staff, facilities, and rental program and look forward to seeing you again soon.

As you mention, it is important to be clear about your expectations before booking, and La Casa is certainly a great place to go if you want to get away from the busy bustle of the city life while reconnecting with family and friends in a safe, and stress-free environment.

Fortunately, the B.C. government has allotted $1 million to the improvement and repair of the road to La Casa, and trips to our resort for you, your family, and future guests will soon be safer and less daunting.

With the improvement of the road, we also hope to provide easier, more convenient access to restaurants and shopping in Vernon and Kelowna for those individuals looking for an urban outing during their stay at our resort.
