“This place is a joke!”

BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir
Reviewed 15 October 2013

This place is truly a joke!
From a spiritual point o view this temple has nothing to offer. The altars are closed and visitors can see only some digital photos of their gods.
When you walk inside the temple you will feel eyes on you of all this security people. It feels more like a correction institution!
The photos are not allowed inside which is so stupid, because except murble walls there is nothing else. Moreover if you have better camera and you want to do some photo shooting outdoor it is also not allowed.
Honestly it was huge waste of my and my frieds time. We dislike that place because of not welcome attitude of this people.

I spent 4 hours at Temple, reading thru their exhibit on Indian Rishi scientists, then attend Aarti , Abhishek on Nilkanth varni and then closely watching marble carving decorated with LED lights in Roof of temple.

The carving in temple roof brings to life best piece of art & craft from Several famous Hindu temples which I personally visited (e.g Delvadana Dera - Mount Abu, Modhera Sun temple and many other renowned South Indian temples)

Few notings I made of Rishi Scientist exhibit in temple is presented hear:
1) Yoga: Patanjali live in 200BCE , Belong to Gonda (Gonard) Uttarpradesh - He is father of yoga and prescribed eight limbs of Yoga- Yam , Niyam, Asan, Pranayam, Pratyahar, Dhyan, Dharna

2) Chemistry: Nagarjuna 100 CE belong to Baluka , Madya pradesh- He was chancellor of then World's largest university Nalanda. he Wrote Arogyamanjiri& Yoga Sar.

3) Maths: Aryabhatt 476 CE belong to Kusympur, Bihar- he wrote "Aryabhatium" , explained that Earth rotates on its own axis and orbit around sun 1000 year before Copernicus gave his heliocentric theory. He gave value of "Pie" and define Sin table and above all gave concept of Zero without which computer science will be non existent.

4) Atomic theory: Acharya Kanad (600 BCE) belong to Prabhas khetra Near Dwarka in Gujarat- He classified objects of creation in nine elements- Earth, Water, Light, Wind, Ether, Time Space, Mind, and Soul. He talk about Atom & electrons 2500 year before Dalton gave his Atomic theory.

5) Surgery: Maharhi Sushrut- 600 BCE- He was Son of Maharshi Viswamitra and Well respected Rishi in Indian Mythology. M. Sushrut wrote "Sushrut Samhita" and he was pioneer in Plastic surgery (Rhinoplasty- Restore broken nose) and Anesthesia. he used 125 different tools made from Animal & Bird Jaws. he used Horse hairs and fiber if Bark as thread. he carried out 300 different type of operation.

The temple is incredible. The workmanship is unbelievable. Be sure to check the schedule and attend a service, like only 8 minutes long, but very interesting. The volunteers are very eager to explain everything.

I have been to this temple several times, and i must say it is one of the most beautifully sculpted temples in the USA.
The exteriors are magnificent, but the interiors is what steals the show. Pillars and ceilings of carved marble, supplemented by intelligent lighting, makes the temple extremely eye-pleasing.
Cleanliness and silence is maintained at all times. Also, the parking is convenient and sufficiently large.
The exhibition hall has some very interesting information and portraits.
As icing on the cake, the cafeteria serves yummy food!

still being constructed /renovated. it is was a surprise to encounter a full fledged temple . the sheer detailing workmanship shows the dedication & effort.
the most important thing missing was people . i thought a temple is for people -- & not to stand aloof . i guess i choose a wrong day to come & missed out on all the joyful fervor.

Thank inias
