My wife and I visited the Bloomington/Normal area for a funeral and spent two nights at the Country Inn by Carlson. We had a so-called King suite so as to have a refrigerator and found it more than adequate. We especially appreciated the cooling system and the wet bar that served as an extra sink. A couple of negatives---the lighting in the bedroom is terribly dim and leaves a lot to be desired and the two TVs need to be updated.
Now, to an extreme positive. We have traveled by car in 47 of the contiguous 48 states and have NEVER been in a finer breakfast room. Ample in space and seating with a home sofa, fireplace and book-shelves at one end. Dishes were dishes, not plastic or cardboard...real flatware, not plastic forks, knives and spoons. Real cups ....real glass-ware and a varied selection of warm breakfast items. The room was serviced by TWO rapidly moving, smiling ladies. After so many ordeals with plastic, flopping plates, breakable knives and forks, slow working toasters, cardboard tasting scrambled eggs, this place was an absolute knockout.
We also noticed the average age in that room both mornings. Because it's not off an interstate but close to the airport, State Farm headquarters and two universities, there weren't too many of us gray hairs there. Kind of nice for a change.More
