“Non-smokers Beware”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

If you are a non-smoker like I am, don't bother to stay here. Every time my company sends us out of town to Bloomington, they always make our reservation for this hotel because they are cheap. I am severely allergic to all tobacco smoke. If you book a non-smoking room here, be prepared to inhale cigarette smoke all day and night. They have 2 separate buildings here, the main building with the lobby should be required to be 100% non-smoking (it is not) and the 2nd separate building should be designated to smoking customers only. I am on the 2nd floor in a non-smoking room, if you open the door to the hall you are blasted with a thick cloud of cigarette smoke. There is no air flow in the halls to ventilate the smoke so you have to hold your breath and hope not to pass out while running out of the building. The smoke seeps into your room through the door seems and vents in the rooms, so everything smells like smoke anyway. The windows do no open so don't count on any fresh air coming in. Avoid this hotel if you are a non-smoker. For you idiots out there that design hotels, if you are going to allow smoking in your hotel, you need to make 2 completely separate buildings, not attached to each other. One for smokers and one for non-smokers, this is the only way to truly have a non-smoking room.

The experience of our stay was less then satisfactory. The air conditioning kept the room at an acceptable temperature but did not remove the humidity so it was very uncomfortable to sleep. Also, the hotel was at capacity and some of the food for breakfast would be out and not replenished in a timely fashion. I would not stay there again.

The hotel is slightly outdated, but whereas the bathroom was very tiny the power of the shower head made up for it. Great price for a 1 night stay. We would definitely stay here again. Comfy bed and pillows.

This was the first time staying at this brand and I was pleasantly surprised.
We had two rooms and both were clean, quiet and spacious.
The staff were very helpful and friendly.
The breakfast was basic and could do with a few more choices.
The location is very close to the freeway.

I will never stay with this brand hotel again. Poor is too high a grade to give. Continential breakfast a joke..pure carbs only. Beds were so bad it hurt your legs to get in and out. A/C do bad the room smelled of mildew. Mold on tiles in bath. Yucky.

This was the worst of all the La Quinta Hotels we stayed at in our 4 month trip. Smelly rooms, unclean, needs a complete gutting and redo; terrible breakfast, lousy coffee, only bananas for fruit; room card system was very slow and took multiple times to enter room and exit doors.

This is a nice hotel with wide halls, large rooms, and decent amenities. Well-priced and pet-friendly. Great location near the interstate and Constitution Trail, which is what brought us to Bloomington as we are avid cyclists. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and the included breakfast was better than average for this class of hotel. The bathroom area was nice, with granite countertops, nice fixtures, and plenty of towels. However, there were a few things that needed improvement. The flat-screen TV was nice, but had been set up for 4x3 aspect resolution (and not changeable as the "setup" button on the remote had been disabled), so the picture was small and the widescreen aspect could not be used. This is certainly an easy fix. The tub (fiberglass) was dirty on the bottom, though otherwise the room was very clean. At check-in and again when I went to the front desk to report a problem with the internet, I had to wait several minutes for a staff member to appear at the desk. I requested a text when the room was ready but did not receive one. The king bed was very soft and hurt my husband's hips, but the five fluffy pillows were very much appreciated. Last but not least, the hotel was full on Saturday night and very noisy from early (5:30 am) Sunday morning, with children running up and down the halls and many slamming doors. I know there's not anything the staff can do about that kind of thing, but it was MUCH quieter on Monday morning, so I would only stay there again during the week. The rate was quite a bit higher on Saturday night vs. Sunday, so I think this is just a very busy hotel on weekends and thus loud much earlier in the morning than we would prefer.

Room Tip: If staying on a weekend, I'd avoid rooms near the far ends of the hall (which adds one additiona...
