“Very Poor Service, Serious Lapse in Privacy/Security”
Reviewed 26 February 2014

We would like to start out by explaining the most disappointing moment of our stay...
At the end of our stay we were due to check-out at 10am, at 9.30am the male member of our party went to collect the car from the car park whilst the female member was getting washed and ready in the bathroom. On arriving back no more than 10 minutes later the male member noticed the door of the cottage to be ajar, when entering the door a male workman appeared from inside explaining that he was carrying out electrical testing. The workman had let himself into the cottage without permission from either of us with the female member of our party still upstairs unaware of this. The male member of the party pointed this out but the workman persisted into wanting to carry out the work until told firmly to leave at which point he relented. We both feel this was a serious invasion of privacy alongside a security issue with our belongings inside the accommodation, we feel very let down that Bluestone allowed this to happen and we have lodged a formal complaint.

Here is a list of other examples of poor service during our stay... Firstly on arrival we were provided a note of our itinerary which we had previously booked on-line. Straight away there was an issue with one of the pre-booked meals. The "themed" night was different. We were unhappy that we had not been previously advised of this and then staff on reception could not give us details of the alternative provided. Secondly the route to our accommodation in the main village was frustrating. It was after 5pm on a wet January night and with poor lighting around the camp and no real directions from the reception staff we found ourselves parked on the main road having to make four journeys to and from the car to unload our luggage. There would have been an easier option driving down a small road to the back of our accommodation but it was impossible to see in the dark and not advised at reception. Thirdly we had been receiving email alerts before arrival about booking Camp Smokey, something we were looking to do after an outdoor activity. This turned out not to be possible as it was not open during our stay and in fact had filming going on for a tv advert. Fourthly, we booked a continental breakfast on one morning of our stay, due to be delivered at our lodge at 8am, by 8.45am it hadn't arrived, we called reception and they realized they had forgotten, we found this below standard. We were advised by the staff that the website and activity themes were undergoing an overhaul and there seemed to be difficulty during this transition phase.

Stayed here with a friend for a short break Fri-Mon. On arrival, which I queued in the car for 45 mins, I was informed my accommodation wasn't available but they had upgraded me. The lodge I was given was twice the size which was a bit of a waste to have 4 double bedrooms and 2 shower rooms for just 2 people. The logde was immaculate. A double fridge was a surprise and the bedrooms and linen was spotless. The lack of wifi in lodge was disappointing and I wasn't informed that I would need an ethernet cable for my laptop. As it happens, the computer box on the wall was broken so I wouldn't be able to use it anyway. The rear of the lodge had 2 benches to eat outdoors and with just a forest behind meant we had quiet and privacy. Each night we had a badger visit and we fed him hot cross buns which he loved. It was a very snug and welcoming accommodation in a quiet area of the park. I am glad I had not booked nearer the village as it looked tired and needed a lick of paint. Bluestone is a great location to visit the lovely town of Narberth with a variety of shops, restaurants and bars. Also Manor House Wildlife Park is a must for both children and adults. In all, its a great location for children and families but not so much for couples.

Went here 27th of jan for 4 nights , upon arriving check in was very simple. Stayed in a Ramsey lodge (upside down lodge) it was lovely, clean , well equipped , modern , comfy beds . Just needed new sofas!!! (We weren't in the lodge all day sitting on them so not really a problem)
The park itself had lots of things to do some of which cost money some of which didn't , our two boys did the big four and woodland warrior ( laser quest in the Forrest ) cost about £70 for both for two of them. You can spend a lot of money here if you don't take advantage of the free activities on offer . The swimming pool was nice but I wouldn't have paid the price someone not staying at the park would have too. We stayed here on a b&b basis and went out for diner one night , in my opinion the quality of the BBQ night food could be greatly improved for what it costs. We did hire a buggy to drive around in , which was great fun and very convenient. All in all great time away , great location , great accommodation , the kids had a fantastic time , we wouldn't eat out again , but would we go back ?? - yes

Complete waste of money , pool was closed most of the weekend, food was awful, accommodation starting to look very tired, staff vey unhelpful and knew nothing about issue with the Blue Lagoon.
Given email address by staff member to complain but even that does not work!!!
After a terrible weekend I get a shout from a Blue Stone youth in a electric buggy saying 'have a nice day' just lucky for him he did not stop!!!!!!

Avoid and go to Centre Parks you pay more but get better service.

We have just returned from a 3night weekend and our overall view is that we had an enjoyable stay for the price - just over £200 for 4 of us. However, there are a number of niggles and simple improvements that could be made.

We stayed in a Caldey Lodge in Augustus Way - the location was good, close enough to all amenities, clean, well equipped and comfortable. However, I'm not sure who thought that putting wet rooms in lodges designed for families is a good idea? On the first day our 5 yr old slipped and hit her head on the wet floor. Also as mentioned the hot water did run out after 1.5showers. We found the beds Ok - they are covered in plastic so a bit crinkly but we did take our own pillows so had a few home comforts.

We mostly took our own food and ate in for every meal except one, where we attended the Fairy Dinner in the Wildwood cafe - where the food was absolutely appalling. Lamb stew - swimming in fat for adults and chicken nuggets for the girls ( really cheap nasty ones) with sponge & custard for desert of which both the taste and texture were horrible. The girls loved the show - I felt it was a little short. Bearing in mind Bluestone claim they offer free range holidays I expected more from the food.

We enjoyed the Blue Lagoon however I would recommend making use of the residents only hr from 9-10am as it gets really busy once it's opened to the public. The facilities are good, we enjoyed the slides & sandy pool but they need more family changing rooms as we found ourselves waiting to get changed.

The girls enjoyed the adventure centre however for adults watching it is absolutely freezing, there are not enough seats and the place is generally messy with used cups - waiter service, comfy chairs would significantly improve this area.

The girls did a couple of other activities - buccaneers and the crèche and enjoyed both, the outside treetops play area is good and they enjoyed the kids hour. The staff are all very friendly and keen to help.

The shop is well equipped, we tried the coffee shop, which was nice bit felt more could be done with the knights tavern to make it more cosy and atmospheric - it is essentially a room with tables and doesn't invite you to spend time there.

The weather was pretty awful for our stay but we weren't ever bored but I don't feel we explored Bluestone as much as we would had the weather been better and so we would definitely re-visit if the price was right!!

We stayed at Bluestone last week during half term and it felt like a complete waste of money.
The lodge itself was quite good but the beds were so hard we all had bad backs and we ran out of hot water every day after 1 shower.
The worst aspect was the catering. We did not manage one single meal without an issue. Items being forgotten and coming at different times. We had lunch at the Tafarn on the Tuesday and after several times of asking got cold food after an hour and a half!
The shop has nothing to cook in the lodge so take plenty of your own food.
The take away was dire - £10.95 for a chicken kebab that was literally 5 tiny slices of chicken breast - the worst value by far of our whole stay.
Careg Las is far from fine dining - laughable is all I can say!
There is little to do indoors if the weather is bad. Nothing for older children or adults either. No gym, badminton courts etc etc.
Pool is tiny. The park is more geared for smaller children but definitely not for teenagers.
No comparison with Center Parcs.
Very dissapointed.
