“Great break in a great location”
Reviewed 11 June 2014

First time staying at Bluestone and I can highly recommend the place. We went with some friends, and had a lovely time. Were very impressed with the location, surrounding scenery and views. The lodge was lovely with new carpet and hot, powerful showers. I found the entire resort to be very clean, relaxed atmosphere and the staff were all helpful and friendly. The lodges are built into the hills so it feels very natural and intrusive. The no-car policy makes cycling and wondering around the resort safe, with golf buggies for those wanting less effort! The zip wires were brilliant as were the other activities we did, and whilst we had no children with us we found ourselves saying how much our niece and nephews would love it there. The spa is great with several steam rooms and saunas to relax in, and the hydro pool in the outdoor sun was a treat.
All in all a great break and all of us have said we will return again for certain.

Room Tip: We stayed in Forest View - no views of the rolling countryside but close to all the amenities and lo...

We are on the last but one day of our first ever stay at Bluestone, having been here for 6 days. We have been in a 3 bedroomed lodge in Preselli View, with our daughter, son-in-law and 2 grandsons, aged 4 and 2. We haven't ever been to Centreparcs, so can't compare, but we have been impressed by what we have experienced here. It is a beautiful, and beautifully kept, site, with lovely views everywhere. We have enjoyed the emphasis on environmental awareness.

First, the lodge itself:- It was spotless when we arrived, with a starter kit of 3 dishwasher tabs, a washing up cloth, a tiny bottle of washing up liquid and a tea towel + oven cloth for the kitchen and there was a mini soap and towels in the bathroom. The arrangement of kitchen and living area upstairs, with a Juliet balcony, means that we have been able to make the most of the stunning views of the Preselli Hills and that has been very enjoyable. The lodge is spacious and attractive - quite luxurious in fact - and the furniture is clean, modern, good quality and comfortable (apart from the beds, which are hard! I have used a mattress topper all week.) The kitchen is better equipped than many self-catering places, and we have been able to cook all our own meals here. The cupboards are all at ground level - not ideal to have glasses and china accessible with an inquisitive toddler around! ( Also, another safety issue that we noted was that blind cords hang right down - families with young children will need to be mindful of this and ensure children are watched at all times.) Elsewhere there is a reasonable amount of storage space, good, powerful showers and an effective hot towel rail for drying out towels swimsuits etc. (Note: no hairdryer provided),

There are many organised activities daily, but our children are not yet sophisticated enough to take part in them - and they are quite expensive - so we have concentrated on what comes with the package. The Adventure Centre, the Blue Lagoon and the new playground for small children in the Village have all been a great hit with the little ones and given many hours of free entertainment. Also we did not hire a buggy, as the boys are good walkers, and did not find this inconvenient - actually it added to the holiday to be able to walk everywhere in immaculate and attractive surroundings. The Village grocery store has been very useful and keeps a surprisingly wide range of stock for a small shop. Prices are higher than in the supermarkets but not outrageous and the staff are nice. In fact, all of the resort staff that we spoke to have been nice which suggests that either they are carefully selected, or that they have a good employer - or perhaps both.

I and my husband spent a couple of hours at the Well Spa on a special package deal - 2 hours in the Thermal Spa for £20 all told and a glass of smoothie thrown in. It was a lovely experience and very good value.

As a family we spent a day at Oakwood Theme Park, next door to Bluestone, which was excellent and also very good value. There were activities and rides for everyone to enjoy.

We also went to Saundersfoot, about 20-25 minutes drive away, which is a lovely unspoilt little seaside resort with a sandy beach and safe shallow water for the children.

There is so much to do here, whatever your interests, whether you stay on site or venture further afield. The facilities range from reasonable to excellent in my view and I would recommend it as a destination for a family holiday. We are very likely to come again.

My family and friends always go on a mid November weekend break to Bluestone. Everybody enjoys it! With an age range from 10 to 46 you would think it would be a challenge to entertain he all! But with the women going to Tenby shopping, and the rest of us going swimming in the Blue Lagoon everything is sorted! It's great seeing the whole park in a community like spirit! There's everything in the village in the centre of the park, grocery shops, pubs, restaurants, arcades children's play areas, everything! There's a whole range of activities for younger children, and lots of walking paths, archery, and don't forget camp smokey! Customer service is average, they give you the information as you go into the park, it may be just my opinion, but I always appreciate a member of staff saying hello or good morning when they walk past. The accommodation is spacious, clean and tidy, with a modern effect, they all have stunning views of the welsh countryside from every window! The food is great, tasty! Although there is a long wait it's worth it! The idea of delivery is really effective! And great for everyone staying there! I would recommend Bluestone to anyone! You also got FREE entry to Blue Lagoon! One of the best swimming pools in Wales! I'm looking forward to my next visit to Bluestone this November!

Room Tip: I advice a bungalow by the lake, with views over the lake and a seating area!

Stayed here with friends Monday to Friday, we are 3 friends who meet up annually as we now live in different parts of the country, so there were no children in our party. We stayed in a Gateholm in order to have a bedroom each, the lodge was very clean, although some of the furniture was a little tired looking and opening the door at the Juliet balcony was a bit of a mystery as was the lock on the cooker hob! It would have been nice to have a card saying appliance instructions could be found on the TV, that said the people in the information were very helpful and when we reported a dodgy cupboard door it was fixed within a couple of hours. We enjoyed using the Blue Lagoon and the Spa but spent more time visiting the beautiful Pembrokeshire countryside. We didn’t eat on site either having been advised against it by friends who have stayed and from looking at some of the previous reviews. The site is peaceful even though it was quite busy and is set in a picturesque location. I would say it makes a suitable holiday for families and those without children.

Lodges well stocked with kitchen equipment and staff in eating establishments very helpful and we were able to book a table for 25 with only a few hours notice! - Thank you very much!!

Stayed there as a family for a week. Very high spec accomodation which was good with the wi fi and very pleasant site. The Adventure Centre was good and the pool was ok. The village centre is small but ok. The Spa was excellent and we both enjoyed our treatments there. A couple of minor points would be that the Buggies are ridiculously expensive and we couldnt justify £25 a day for them. The other point would be the cars on site as there seemed to be a lot which had let through over the weekend for what was supposed to be a car free site. Nice break though and would stay again

Stayed in a gate holm lodge , it was out of this world. The site was immaculate. Loads to do. Wonderful staff, wonderful facilities. Blue lagoon was a great way to spend 3 hours. You can't fault this holiday destination, the best we have ever stayed in.
