My son's team booked this hotel for a baseball tournament at SIU . No frills here. It's your basic $90 a night hotel. As everyone else has stated the carpet in the halls and rooms are stained and worn. Minimal upgrades have been made in the rooms and bathrooms. The breakfast is your basic "free " breakfast that low budget hotels serve . The hotel was fine for the boys who just needed a place to crash between games.

I stay here for when I am working at track and field meets at SIU-C, and the rooms are very clean and well taken care of. The front desk staff is very friendly and helpful, and go out of their way to help their guests. The breakfast is typical for a free breakfast, but the hotel itself is close to several restaurants that have breakfast. It is relatively close to the SIU campus (only a short drive), and the rec center, football stadium, and outdoor track are very easy to get to. I am glad to stay there every year when I am working a track competition, and look forward to next year. I also forgot to mention how helpful and friendly the housekeeping staff is. They take great care of you!.

We stayed at this hotel for a wedding this past weekend (May 24th - 2014) The rooms were clean and the staff courteous. The check in was really easy and they put me and my cousins in other rooms right next to each other so that was very nice! We had originally had King bed rooms but because we requested the same floor and had no kings available on our floor they upgraded us at no extra charge
My cousin also had a mishap with her dress. The store she bought it at had left the security sensor on it. The man at the desk did not hesitate to help. He pulled out some tools but to no avail, but he did know where that store had a location near by, so crisis averted.
I had no complaints, except the water....tasted like river water! But that isn't the hotels fault, just the area the hotel is located in. I didn't notice anything when I showered so just for drinking purposes and teeth brushing, have bottled water handy
Each room we were all in had a refrigerator and very very clean!
If we have to go down there for anything else, we will stay here again

Pool was clean

The carpet needs to be replaced. The room was ok, but the walls are very thin. I heard every noise from the rooms around us. The ice maker was loud and kept me awake all night. The breakfast was average. In my opinion, I would stay here only if the other local hotels are booked.

This hotel needs remodeling the carpet looks like its 30 years old and the halls stink because of it in fact the rooms and halls look like they haven't been updated since the 1970s. I would not recommend staying at this hotel unless Holiday Inn Hampton and Best Western are full

All of the previous reviews stating uncleanliness are TRUE!!!! This place is DIRTY! The carpeting is so nasty I wore my shoes always. The bedspread had a cigarette burn. The chair in the room had a huge stain. When i brought this all up to the manager upon check out, he just brushed it off and said he had carpet samples in the back. From reading the previous posts, he must be having a hard time making up his mind. NEVER AGAIN!!!

never stay here! this place is a grade F dump! the comfort inn and suites on reed springs pkwy in carbondale, IL is the nastiest hotel i've ever seen and/or slept in (and i've stayed in plenty). the carpet in the halls and rooms was so visibly old and dirty, that we did not dare walk anywhere without shoes. the one and only time i did, i practically had to peel my feet off the sticky, filthy carpet. the bedding was filthy, as well - dirty, off-white sheets and torn and repulsive comforters.

it is also situated on the shady edge of town and conveniently located to nothing desirable in carbondale. we did not feel safe parking our newish car in the parking lot and did not dare venture outside after dark.

with a rate of $80+/night i expected a much, much cleaner and safer place than this hovel. so do yourself a favor and find different lodging, if you ever are forced to stay in carbondale(a dump of a town in its on right), unless you like staying on the edge of the hood, nasty and dated carpet and bedding and being overcharged for a very substandard room.

and to those who wrote positive reviews about the comfort inn and suites of carbondale - thanks for nothing. i suggest you get out and travel more to find out what an acceptable hotel really is. because this place is far from ok and doesn't deserve even a 1-star rating, as far as i'm concerned.

once again, never book a room at the comfort inn and suites in carbondale, IL, you will regret it upon arrival.
