“Domenica and the 'Fountain of Youth'”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

Came to Domenica to watch cricket and fell in love with the place. Wanted to stay at Fort Young in Roseau, but it was booked out by the teams. Rosalie Bay Resort was next choice and really should have been the first choice. Eco-friendly, quiet, efficient, great staff, beautifully laid out gardens and villas, and close to many un-touristy hikes and sights.

To see a giant leatherback lay her eggs one evening and to see hatchlings the next day was worth the trip itself. (Different mothers.). I would unequivocally recommend this place to anyone wanting some 'island time' for a total de-stress. Cricket was a hot topic with the staff too. Fun.

Wonderful experience from the front desk staff to the quaint rooms. I could not have asked for a better stay! I will definitely be returning with my family. Side note: The restaurant was incredible. I would recommend to my friends and family in a heartbeat! If you get an opportunity to see the large leatherback turtles, it's a MUST SEE. Simon George, the gentleman that runs the program is fascinating. Meeting him was one of the biggest highlights of the trip!

Our stay was magnificent! Such a great place!. The dining was superb and the rooms relaxed and private. The people were great! The "Emerald Falls" are not very far away. There are some great sites and snorkeling close by in the town of Roseau. We loved it and hope to go back soon.

This resort is a lovely, smallish boutique-style place with clean, well-furnished rooms (not luxury, but very premium), with nice touches like fresh flowers and lots of indoor and outdoor towels, coffee/tea in room, wifi and a balcony with nice furniture facing the ocean. People were super nice, the salt-water pool was absolutely lovely, the massages we had were some of the best ever, and the restaurant was solid (we particularly liked breakfast). It is not located close to any restaurants, so to go somewhere else, you need to take a taxi (cost USD25 for the restaurant they strongly recommended, not really offering other choices) or have a rental car. There's good hiking nearby, but again, you need to be driven there or take a guide. While the ocean here is stunning, you can't swim in it because of the dangerous rip currents and quick sand (according to a local we met) and the beautiful black sand beach was completely covered with seaweed. That said, the highlight of staying here are the sea turtles (leatherbacks, green and hawksbill) that come up on the beach to lay eggs, which are then whisked away by researchers to a safe spot on the beach and buried until they hatch. We didn't get to see laying, but we did get to see the babies hatch and make their run down the beach, all narrated by the naturalists who work this station. This was a once in a lifetime experience and made our trip.

This resort is beautiful. You would never have to leave the resort and would still have tons of fun. My biggest issue with this resort is etiquette. When we arrived we were expecting a normal room with partial sea views. But there was something wrong with our AC or something so they upgraded us to the best room on the resort. We were SUPER EXCITED!! So they showed us around the room and we were going to get our things to drop it off and then they took the room back from us. It was devastating. They still upgraded us to an ocean view, but after being in the presidential suite nothing is great in comparison. So we were very disappointed. (although we still got a free upgrade)

The staff in the restaurant were not so great. Mostly they could not get the orders right and we had to go back and forth to make sure it was good. But Prince was amazing. He was sweet and kind and he was on point with everything. We loved him most!! There wasn't much variety with the fish until the second to last night they got a large amount of red snapper, mahi mahi (the only fish that was available the entire week, and lion fish!! So we had the red snapper the first night (they asked for the fish we wanted, but not how we wanted it cooked in the morning...then we got back that night and they cooked it anyway without asking us how we wanted it prepared...disappointing) but the lion fish was cooked to perfection.

The rooms are beautiful. they give complementary Rosalie Bay water bottles...they were cute. They have turtle watching (my boyfriend went out twice and saw some huge mama turtles)

This hotel is located in the middle of nothing. It is very hard to get places and we ended up driving about an hour to every destination. It is very secluded.

Loved the spa!! The lady who gave me a massage was super talented. It was relaxing.

Overall the resort was nice and we would return, we just had some unfortunate moments.

I would recommend.

We live on the island of Dominica so it may sound silly to say "we needed to get a way for a few days". We chose to stay "on island". We had previously stayed at Rosalie Bay when it first opened its doors several years ago and had a wonderful experience, so it seemed appropriate to return.
We stayed in one of the Ocean Front Suites. Everything in the room from the furniture, bedding to decorations were beautiful and comfortable.
The suite was a stone throw away from the pool so our toddler and teenager were very happy.
We stayed on the resort for two days. In the mornings we used the gym which was equipped with all the state of the art equipment. Walked around the gardens filled with flowers and Noni trees and used the push bikes to ride around the resort.
Breakfast was served in the Zaman Restaurant with plenty of choice to satisfy our fussy family.
Having children, the pool was extremely important as you can't swim in the ocean. We spent a large amount of time hanging out by the beautiful designed pool and took full advantage of the pool side bar for delicious snacks and beverages.
The evening meals were excellent from Surf and Turf to fresh Fish and delicious desserts.
We had a complimentary massage which was wonderful and were lucky enough to be shown around the new spa. It was not quite complete at our time of visiting but the spa is filled with first class luxury!
The owner has tried very hard to ensure the resort offers luxury and tranquility, but lives in harmony with its natural environment, we feel she has accomplished this and more!
It was such a pleasure to spend time here. From the top of the range facilities, excellent cuisine and most importantly the service we experienced from the staff, our stay was simply amazing in every way!

As a student at Ross University, this little weekend trip was quite a treasure and a much needed escape from school. My boyfriend and I especially loved the spa. With the warm sea breeze washing up and gorgeous views, it was a perfect mini vacation.
