Owner description: Chicago's breath-taking National Landmark Theatre hosts concerts, comedians, theatrical productions and special events every year. The 3,600 seat auditorium is seven stories high, and the vertical "C-H-I-C-A-G-O," sign is one of the few such signs in existence today. A symbol of State Street and Chicago, the marquee is a landmark in itself, as is the Wurlitzer pipe organ. Patrons can also go behind-the-scenes on their educational venue tour, which runs a few times a week.

I like this theatre because most of the seats are good. It's old decor makes it very nice. We saw the Beach Boys and the sound system was good the lighting was good.

This is a great way to see your favorite performers, much better than the Unites Center. We have seen Lady Antebellum, The Beach Boys, and Melissa Ethridge, and now know where the better seats are, and how to get good parking (spot hero).

Have seen many concerts at this theatre .
Lower level have the best view of the stage but higher up still not too bad. The walls and ceiling are painted and sculpt to bring you back to the old days of high society.

A fun option for the weekend, with tours at 11am and 12:30pm, the Chicago Theatre gives a lot of background info regarding the start of the theatre, some of its dark days in the 70's, and its survival in the 80's. If you are lucky, the tour lets you up on stage and into dressing rooms where you can see the autographs of all of the performers who have appeared at the theater. It's a small stage, so they mostly show individual concerts, but you learn a lot about how the theatre was built and what it is capable of producing. Great for history buffs and architectural interest. Hillary was a fun tour guide.

I didn't have particularly high expectation of this tour as I'm not really into theatre. However, wandering around Chicago one afternoon we thought we'd give the Chicago theatre tour a crack as it was only $10 per person. It was well worth it. The head usher gave us a tour of this beautiful theatre reciting stories of days gone by and it was absolutely fantastic. Well worth the visit! And, don't forget to ask who the best and worst celebrities are to work with, you're bound to get fascinating stories.
