The appearance of the hotel is very nice. Location-wise, it is not convenient to any notable locations, its only benefit being about 10 minutes away from Jim's Original Maxwell Street Polish (my new favorite local eatery). In addition, the lack of automatic doors makes it very inconvenient if you are traveling with a lot of luggage. Also, the cafe was closed for the week on the day I was there so there was no place to get a snack in the hotel during my stay.
What the hotel makes up for in amenities (or lack thereof) and location, it makes up for in service. I was attended to with every step of the check-in process. The desk staff was very helpful. Additionally, when I called later that night because I had an issue with the TV in the room, the front desk sent up a security guard, who stayed and played with the remote until it was fixed.
Morale of the review? If you are in the hospitality industry, pay attention to your customers! Some attention goes a long way and - in my opinion - probably saved my review of this hotel. I would likely stay again if I was in Chicago.More
