I'm in total agreement with other satisfied travellers for this property. Rooms are spacious, clean, and service here is great. Location is great for shopping. I will definately stay here in the future. If you are a light sleeper, be warned that the hotel is right next door to a Fire Station - which might be a concern for some. They have complimentary ear plugs available at the front desk.

This was a great spot to call home base for a long weekend. I love the Hampton Inns, they never disappoint. The concierge desk was friendly and helpful - they gave us directions and recommendations for attractions and dining. I do not, however, recommend renting a car! The hotel does not offer free or even discounted parking for their garage and street parking is a pain. You have to keep feeding meters. There is no place in the vicinity to park it and leave it. We didn't need it anyway. Chicago is a great walking city. Love it!

smsg10,
I wanted to thank you for sharing the experience of your recent stay with us. Our team always strives to give the service our guests expect & deserve. We appreciate the comments as we are always looking for ways to improve the hotel & service we give our guests.

You mentioned that you were looking for free parking at the hotel. Hotels, attractions & restaurants in downtowns of large, urban areas do not typically offer free parking. We realize the additional expense that is incurred by our guests that choose to drive to Chicago & we have compared our valet rates to many comparable hotels in the area. Our most recent rate shop of overnight valet rates of our competing hotels found all rates to be higher than ours. We therefore pride ourselves in offering one of the best values for hotel valet parking.

The next time you consider visiting Chicago, consider taking the train. The money saved in parking easily is saved taking the CTA public transit system & taxis--you’ll even feel like a real Chicagoan riding the ‘L’ train!

Our team looks forward to serving you again the next time you are in Chicago!

Graciously,

Ross Guthrie

We enjoyed our one night stay at Hampton Inn. It was close to a lot of great restaurants, clubs and bars. The only downside for some people might be that there is a fire station, next door.
We did hear sirens in the night.
The rooms were very nice, well decorated, clean and comfortable.

An all around favorite for a stay in Chicago. Lovely folks at the front desk, decent breakfast, alhough it can be crowded with large groups, and nice, large rooms.

Room Tip: There is a fire station next door, but they do have free ear plugs -- big jar near the elevator is f...

My husband and I just spent 5 days in Chicago at the Hampton Inn on West Illinois. It was the perfect location. We walked everywhere. Easy to walk to the Navy Pier, Millenium Park and nice and close to Magnificent Mile. We even walked to the Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park without a problem. Once again Hampton Inn comes through. The front desk staff were welcoming and helpful from the get go. We were on the 10th floor looking down at the "Fire Station" that people referred to. They offer ear plugs at the front desk, but noise was never an issue for us at all. At breakfast there were plenty of choices to pick from. There was everything from fruit and yogurt to waffles, eggs, cereals and various breads and bagels. No worries about unhealthy eating. We would walk all day and then come back and use the pool and the hot tub which we pretty much had to ourselves. We used the business centre which conveniently was open 24 hours, to check up on e-mails and check in for our flights.
Our airport shuttle was picking us up at 1:20 and there was no problem arranging a late check-out. This was a great trip and the best location!

Room Tip: We found the higher floor to be nice and quiet.

I stayed at this hotel for business the week of 9/27. The hotel staff is extremely friendly and attentive. The breakfast is absolutely wonderful and has many options offered including fresh fruit, eggs and waffles. The exercise facility is small with only two treadmills and two eliptical machines but I never saw it crowded (I used it in the mornings). There are only three elevators and I never waited long. My room was on the 9th floor and was away from the elevators. The hotel lobby is small but all of the other amenities make it worth the stay. I highly recommend this hotel. The location is wonderful and a close walk to all of the highlights in Chicago.

Great location and great service, overall one of the best Hampton Inns that I have stayed at. Arrived at 7:00am and found one of the most friendly and competent front-desk personnel at any hotel I have ever been at who quickly got us our room (no problem with the early check-in), offered to help with sightseeing or restaurants, but in a manner that actually seemed to be helpful as opposed to the often apparent attempt to "guide" business to particular vendor.

The rooms were typical of a Hampton Inn which is reasonably sized, comfortable beds, fairly well-appointed, clean with everything working, but still kind of boring.

The breakfast was a little better than most Hampton Inns with a better selection of bread and fresh fruit and a daily hot item. I personally can't stomach any kind of pre-cooked buffet style eggs, but my son must have downed 6 of the mini-cheese omelets they had one morning, so can't be too bad. The breakfast area really excelled in that it is very nice location on the 2nd floor. Even though it was somewhat of a zoo with all the people in the morning, the staff did an outstanding job of keeping the area well stocked and clean and there were always tables available, all things that are common problems that I have experienced at other Hampton Inns.

I think the biggest difference with this Hampton is the staff which was without exception friendly and helpful. One example was seeing another gentleman carrying a couple of drinks and some food from breakfast back to his room, as he was walking out a staff member grabbed a tray and caught up with him so that it would be easier to carry back to his room. You don't see staff very often go out of their way to help a customer without being asked and it seemed to be common occurrence here. Very well done!
