This is the second time I have stayed at the Burnham for the Restaurant Show in Chicago. I returned due to the EXCELLENT service provided by the staff and in particular two employees: Vane who took such good care of the folks each day during their happy hour. John Luc who works the front desk and is one of the managers was stellar as well in addition to helping us with restaurant suggestions, reservations and directions. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: Rooms are NOT large but ample.

Dear Chuck2950,

Thank you for being loyal to the Hotel Burnham! Welcome Back......You letter was so inspiring and gave Vane and Jean-Luc the motivation to keep going strong. There not a lot of people writing about there experience anymore so this was definitely a treat. Thank you for the entire staff and we hope to have you with us next year during the NRA show. People like you makes the difference.

Warm regards,

Perfect location right across from Macy's (the historic Marshall Field's), the theater district, and near many restaurants and other conveniences like a HUGE Walgreen's that even has soft serve and a manicurist, although you might want to enjoy your soft serve before your manicure ;)

The breakfast at the Atwood, the hotel's restaurant, is amazing, especially the French toast. I also appreciate the great salads at lunch.

The staff is very friendly and helpful and I love how you can feel the history of the hotel, especially in the elevator lobby. As always, they have 5 pm wine hour at this Kimpton, complimentary coffee and tea in the morning, and are dog-friendly.

I've stayed here at least twice.

Note: if you've never been to a historic downtown hotel before, the rooms are smaller than you might be used to. If you want a McMansion-sized room, this isn't the hotel for you.

This is the second time we have stayed at the Burnham and it gets better. The hotel itself is a fantastic building with lots of history and features, but it is the staff that make it head and shoulders above the rest. All the staff we dealt with were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. I must also give special praise to Darnell on the front desk who was a delight to deal with and was very friendly and helped make our stay so much more pleasurable, with helpful recommendations on things to do and places to eat and just a friendly chat about the day ahead or just gone.
We will definitely stay here again the next time we are back in Chicago and will consider other Kimpton hotels based on this wonderful experience.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great but the views from the higher floors are fantastic.

The staff here was wonderful -- from all of the front desk people, to the waiter at breakfast, to the doorman and the housekeeper. It was fun being in such a historic building and so close to everything. My husband even really liked their brand of shampoo. The room was pretty quiet for being right on the street. We are planning a return trip in our future.

Our Millennium Lake Suite on the 14th floor was fabulous. We seek out the Kimpton brand whenever possible throughout the U.S. and the Hotel Burnham did not disappoint. Check-in was a breeze and all the hotel staff we encountered during our stay where top notch. We enjoyed the array of new and old architecture right from our room as we had a lovely view of Lake Michigan and the iconic Chicago Theater sign. Our suite was nice size and spotless clean with separate bedroom and parlor separated by French doors. The décor is “Kimpton Cool” and the bed was dreamy comfortable. We loved the architectural detail and the history of the Reliance Building where this lovely hotel is housed; the mosaic floors and the iron work throughout the building is SO cool!

We found the location to be excellent; 5 to 10 minute walk to train stations, great restaurants and bars, Michigan Ave, Millennium Park, etc. There is a very upscale Walgreens a few blocks away where you can find a wonderful selection of bottled wines, liquor, yummy cheeses, freshly prepared take-out and pretty cupcakes. Not to mention all drug store staples you may possible need.

We love Chicago and travel there several times each year to visit family and to enjoy the city. We have stayed at all four of the Kimpton properties and love them all. We had a great experience at the Hotel Burnham and would stay again. Highly recommend.

Note: Try Lou Malnatis’s for best deep dish on the planet ☺

Room Tip: We splurged on a Millennium Lake Corner Suite... It was divine.
