We stayed at the Burnham for three nights and we absolutely loved it there. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel welcome. The concierge, Jean-Luc, was exceptional. He welcomed us and helped us plan out our days. He was very friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed.
The staff met my request to be upgraded to a historic floor. This is a must-do if you choose to stay here, which you should. The whole hotel is full of ornate historic detail. From the lobby to the elevator shafts and the original staircase...it is truly stunning. On the historic floor, we had an original door with actual keys. This was so charming. Our room was #1201 and we had a spectacular view of the city, and a peek-a-boo view of the lake. The room was small but sufficient. We did not hear any noise from the street...only some late-night noise by the elevators but even that was minimal.
Given the proximity of the hotel, we were able to walk to almost everything. We were able to walk to Millennium Park, the lakefront, the river, and all of our now favorite restaurants (Chicago Cut Steakhouse, The Purple Pig).
This hotel is worth the cost. Their service, nightly complementary wine hour for guests and location are the best. We wouldn't think of staying anywhere else when we return.More
