We have stayed here on many occasions and have found that it is run very well. It is staffed properly with well trained employees. From the front desk with Marco to the Asst Director of Front Office Operations Koba Bruce. Any property would be lucky to be staffed with these type of employees. The service level is unparalleled even when at or near 100%. We were there during Lollapalooza so they were pretty much full. Everything about this stay was GREAT and we will definitely be back!

Have stayed here for Business and for Family weekend. Kids loved the pool and the ornate lobby. The location was perfect to see the sites near and around the loop including museum campus and millennium park.

Stayed last weekend for my birthday, it was ok. The hotel is old, but some of the common areas are well kept (lobby and check in). Our room however, which was on the executive floor, was showing it's age ten fold. Marks on the walls, sink and floors, cracking plaster and peeling wall paper. Cramped space and no counters at all in the bathroom. Outdated decorating in the rooms and executive lounge. Then there is that everything at the Palmer House costs extra, even a mini-fridge so be prepared to pay for anything more then the bed.
The executive floor elevators were fast, but the lounge was so packed that you could not move or sit - a real dissapointment. We stay at Hilton's on a regular basis and always book the executive floor so we get free wifi and other services. It was not worth it here. The private check-in had no staff, the lounge was so packed you could not move and had to wait in line for 30 minutes for "snacks", "adult" beverages were not included (like they usually are at other executive floor Hilton's), the rooms on the floor were small and had no "extras" included. All of that we would have been ok with but the fact that there was no free wifi at the executive lounge, was too much. This is a staple of why we book and for it to be a charge in rooms and even in the lounge is a real miss.
I booked a spa appointment, which was an easy process and my massage was wonderful. However again a dissapointment that there was no real place to go and relax, the waiting area was the spa lobby chairs, of which there were 6 and they were all full with people waiting. The spa lobby was right out in the open so you heard all the noise from the meeting rooms and saw everyone walking by. With a hotel/spa of this level I expect a locker room/lounge area and was sad that they did not invest in one.
Potter's was a great place to have a drink, overall the service at Potter's and every place else was really top notch, that saved the trip in my book.

My friend and I stayed at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago for two nights over a week-end. The hotel is beautiful and the location is fantastic. We arrived very early on Friday and the front desk staff were extremely helpful. They checked us in and directed us to where to store our luggage. While my friend and I stopped for breakfast in town, we got a text message from the hotel saying our room was ready. I was really impressed by not only how fast our room was ready but also that they texted us so promptly to let us know. When we came to get our room keys, there was a huge line. While we were waiting in line, one of the staff recognized us from earlier and let us bypass the line so we could grab our keys.

The rooms are very clean, the beds are comfortable, and the bathroom is a good size + clean. Staff throughout the hotel are very professional and helpful.
The only down side I would say is that there is only free wi-fi in the hotel lobby.

The Palmer house is a beautiful old hotel off Monroe street which puts you close to the waterfront, public transportation, restaurants and shopping. The hotel has a beautiful lobby with restaurants and bar attached. I didn't try the bar or restaurant but it was fairly busy through out my stay. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. I was here with family and we needed a crib which they brought up at no charge. Nicely decorated to keep the old look but had a new feel. The gym is very nice but they do charge a $10 fee to use it. The pool is small and could be updated. They did offer a movie in the evening for kids but the water was freezing! The hotel concierge is very helpful and friendly. Beware that if you drive and have to park the hotel parking is $42 per day with in and out privileges. Not that surprising for city parking but best to know in advance. I would definitely stay here again.

How about this had reservation confirmation in hand and still had to argue with the registration desk about price on reservation. She tried to charge me price on bill they slide under your door. Sorry not on my watch! Then about this room you gave me I understand this place is old but for the price you charge how about some indoor plumbing! You take a shower and the tub fills with water will not drain this is absolutely redickulas for this being a Hilton I think you should step back and take a look at how this place is operating.
