“Treat Diamond Members like a King”
Reviewed 14 January 2013

I arrived really early at this hotel on a Monday (9 am) not expecting my room to be ready for check in but just to be able to drop my luggage off and head to the office. My room was not only ready but because I am a Diamond member I was provided with a free upgrade to the Executive Floor (Travel Agent booked my rate at $119 for 2 Queen Beds).

Being on the 23rd floor was like being in a hotel within a hotel. They treat you like a king up there with free sodas, cookies, appetizers at certain times, etc. All of the staff are very friendly up there as well and the best part is the Executive only elevators! 2 Elevators that only exec. members have access to which has a seat inside the elevator and are much faster and still provide street/lobby access.

I was given the two queen beds room without much a view but I did have 2 seperate bathrooms which although were small both had showers included. The room was huge and also had two nice lounging chairs in front of the bed which you could sit and watch the TV on.

I was working 15+ hour days so I didn't get to explore the hotel much but the lobby architecture was simply stunning and the Lockwood Bar had pretty good food with a variety of beers to try out. Room service was really expensive and the menu didn't have much variety but the steak I ordered was decent.

The location of this hotel was great for my personal reason. (Working at a corporate office on E. Randolph street a half mile away). There is also a Starbucks and a Freshii sandwich shop located in the hotel which was very convienient.

All in all I loved this hotel especially for the rate I got it for. I actually plan on going back to Chicago for business next week and will be staying here again. Now I just hope I get that top floor upgrade again!

We've stayed here before and probably will stay here again. The location is good with plenty of shopping, dining & entertainment within walking distance or a short cab right. The lobby is impressive, but the rooms are underwhelming and small with very thin walls. The shower was tiny and had horrible water pressure in the morning (was fine at night). The price is good for the location.

We stayed here on a recommend... The hotel was incredibly beautiful and has a great atmosphere and feel to it. It's in a great location in terms of walking to shops, millenium park and restaurants! My only complaint is parking is really expensive. It's $42 for self park and it's in the building across the street so you have to walk outside to get to the hotel. Little thing I know, but if I'm paying $42... I want it to be really convenient. But outside of parking, the room was really beautiful ( a little small) everything was clean and updated and the bathroom was nice. I would stay again!

Decent hotel with a nice room. Had some issues with service in that room cleaning had to be requested twice after we slept late on New Years day. There is a very good healthy option restaurant on the main floor if you are watching your food intake like I do. Hard boiled eggs, hummus, whole grain and organic options. The lounge is really nothing special but staff was helpful in recommending a blues bar-Buddy guy's - as an option for New Years eve. We had a blast!

Room Tip: Ask for a nice view. Also there is interesting history behind the hotel so ask about it

Stayed in Chicago with family a few days following Christmas to unwind. The hotel was nicely renovated while retaining its character and charm. The hotel is in a very nice central location and the service was excellent. The children loved the pool and enjoyed the gym. Even if we had to pay for the gym and internet, it was an outstanding value. Highly recommended.

As Hilton HHonors Diamond, was upgraded to room on 23rd floor, not a suite but nice none the less. A couple of hot items for evening offerings in lounge, meat perogi was actually quite good. Only oatmeal for hot item at breakfast in lounge, flat scones were actually quite good.
Had massages at Balance Spa, very good masseuses, the part of this particular spa I didn't like is that they don't offer a locker room or pre-massage area to relax in.

My friend and I stayed at the Palmer House for some Springsteen concerts in September and have never been treated so well! The trip started off a little crazy and just kept getting better and better thanks to the incredible staff. Edgar and James at the front desk made our stay just as great as the concerts. I really can't express how amazing and over the top this whole experience was. We like to get to Chicago once or twice a year and, from now on, will never stay anywhere else but the Palmer House. Our room and beds were so comfortable that we had to force ourselves to get up and going for the day. Such an improvement over the boring impersonal feeling in some other hotels. The lobby is absolutely breathtaking and a great place just to relax plan your next great escapade in this fun filled town. Can't wait to go back!
