Stayed three nights in this older historic hotel as result of a successful Priceline bid. Check in was busy but efficient and friendly in the large, extraordinarily beautiful lobby. Room 18-136, a small room with absolutely tiny bathroom. The room was clean and functional with a fairly large closet. The wall paper was showing signs of age. The king bed was exceptionally comfortable. No flat screen television. The HVAC was quiet, effective, and controlled by a wall thermostat. There was some inconsequential noise from hallway and adjoining rooms.
The bathroom was tiny and, in my opinion, would be problematic for a large person. Bathtub deep and narrow. No grab bars. Great shower with instant hot water. No curved shower curtain. Towels were large and fluffy. The hotel has a work out room, pool, and spa. Overall, while the rooms are small, the historic quality and location of this hotel made it an excellent Priceline value. However, if I were traveling with family, I would choose a hotel with more family friendly rooms.
We took the Megabus so did not use parking, although when in Chicago the cheapest parking is at the Monroe Street garage in Millennium Park Located on the Chicago Pedway, go underground from Macy's to the Hyatt on Wacker. There are restaurants everywhere. Easy walk from hotel to subway, theatre district, Lake Michigan, Grant Park, Museums. Longer walk to Union Station, Magnificent Mile.More
