This hotel has great amenities and is one block from the amazing Mullennium park. On two rail lines, including right on the Red Line, it's perfect to get to Wrigleyville. Some people have complained about iPhone coverage and mine is 100% everywhere in the hotel (even works in the city subway - something New York needs to get
on!). The room is smaller but adequate, with a desk and nice leather and wood swivel chair. The decorations in the room are tasteful and the hotel lobby is beautiful. There isn't really a view in the room but with the park next door, who needs that? Overall - great hotel! I am sure that being on the L line side would be miserable but request another area. It's not the Intercontinental Paris but it's pretty close.

Just completed a 4 night stay at this hotel (stayed here last year for 1 night).

Grand Lobby- the hotel is very proud of its heritage (a tv channel dedicated to it). the lobby is grand- from a past era. the rooms were recently renovated, but they're really tacky (peacocks on the carpets, green silky/satin cheap pillows, lime green velvet chairs, etc).

The rooms are the size of closets. To the point where they feel unsafe because the hallway door opens directly next to your bed. needless to say, even at 12AM when I tried to sleep, i could hear everything in the hallway and surrounding rooms. its like there is no privacy what so ever.

I can get over the small rooms since its an old hotel, but the service is seriously awful and amateur.

1). To use hotel wireless (at $14.95 per day- even for HH Diamond members such as me) you have to get this UFO device from the Front Desk. I inquired, they gave me the device, I had to fill out a waiver, then the desk agent went on a 7 minute search for the instructions. Finally, i told her to stop looking and just had them keep it. seriously, a 12 minute ordeal to pay them $14.95 per day. And, they never offered this at C/I.
2). At checkout, i was charged 8 times for the $14.95 internet. Was charged $85 for the restaurant- which was not my charge- and when I brought it up to the FD, they said it couldn't be fixed until Tuesday- that is, if they decided that I wasn't the one who spent the $85. Why don't they read the folios before they put them under your door- internet charge twice a day for four days?!
3). On day 3, the housekeeper came to my room at 8:30AM, opened the door while i was asleep...i asked her to come back later....left for the day, returned at 6pm, and room hadn't been cleaned.
4). I had access to the exec lounge- it was pitiful. dirty tables, dirty dishes everywhere. only used it one time in 4 days and that was just for coffee and an apple. the food offerings were gross (the turkey on a deli plate was green).

So, overall, don't go here. it's just a hassle. there are so many better hotels in this city. i'm a hilton diamond member and won't be back.

If you are a traveler who does not plan on spending much time in the room this hotel will be fine for you; however, if you are planning on spending time in your room or if you need additional space in your room this is not the hotel for you. Rooms outside of the king sized rooms or executive level rooms are small. Bathrooms are incredibly dated and basic. We found rooms to be clean overall and had everything we needed but were not luxurious at all. Staff was very nice and helpful and went out of their way anytime they could.

Hotel was very clean, the bellhops were very informative on Chicago. They were more helpful than some of the other staff. I loved the history surrounding the hotel.

The Palmer House Hilton is in a great location, it has a magnificent lobby and is most immpressive. Check in was smooth and effecient and our room was pleasent, but small by US standards. The bed was also a standard double which felt somewhat small amd being built in a square the view was simply of the light well in the centre, which meant blinds tended to be kept closed.
However the room was comfortable, spotlessly clean and the location next to the El made up for those minor gripes. The concierge was very helpful pointing out local sights and places to visit.
The Palmer House is just off Michigan Ave and only a short walk to the Magnificent Mile, and the Sears Tower, it is close to most of the Subway and El lines
I must recommend the Arts Institute of Chicago, it is a very short walk and a fabulous way to spend a day, particularly any Apple Users who will recognize large numbers of the desktop art

I and my two children stayed three nights at The Palmer House. It was exquisite. We had an air conditioner that chilled the room to the low sixties, the beds were great, and we had a two bathroom suite, so there was plenty of room. We had a wonderful view. We arrived at The Palmer at noon, so I did not expect our room to be ready, but it was! The staff was great. The food was great. I did discover some lipstick on a water glass, but that was the only flaw. All of this was made even more enjoyable as we had left The Drake Hotel after spending two nights there. Reverse all the superlatives for The Palmer, and there you have The Drake, unfortunately.

The Palmer House Hilton on E. Monroe Street is a beautiful, grand hotel. I arrived at about 6pm on August 5th for 1 night. I had booked a 1 King Bed room (Room 17212) and it was on par maybe a little above the average Hilton although clean and very comfortable and it had a good size but the lobby was impeccable. I was LARGE and had big, over-stuffed couches for people to sit in and had restaurant service with them. It had been a long day so I decided to go eat in the restaurant and ordered "Grown-Up Steak and Mac n' Cheese" and it was very good. It was a well cooked steak with 4-Cheese Mac n' Cheese with mix-in's and other stuff. It was fabulous. Although after my 2 drinks, salad, and meal and after tip, my meal, for 1 person, was $86. Oh well. My company paid for it so it was ok! My company whose office was in the Willis Tower was convenient to the hotel. It was about 8 blocks so maybe not walking distance, but the taxis don't like doing short distances either. I would most definetly stay here again and recommend it to other people.
