Nice comfortable rooms, one elevator out the whole weekend..they leave bottle of water next to ice bucket...used it to make coffee..then noticed they charge the room $4 if u use it..not clearly marked on bottle tag. Paid over $200 for the room per night..can't throw in the water ???

This hotel simply does not care about people's butts. It markets itself as a luxury hotel and I was very much looking forward to a nice luxury hotel in the middle of the city but it was more like a nicer Holiday Inn Express or Hilton Garden Inn. The most egregious problem in my opinion was that they used Angel Soft - 1 or 2-ply toilet paper that was so rough - can you say chafing? The hotel is definitely nice but I wouldn't call it a luxury hotel in any sense. The beds are new and nice and the TV is nice but other than that everything else is pretty old. There are water stains on the ceiling in the bathroom and the air ducts and closet doors are old and had stains on them. This hotel is in a great location - that's really the only thing it has going for it. However, it is extremely loud. There is a lot of street noise - even for a room facing the back alley and away from the major intersection. The windows are not soundproof and you can tell it's an older building that hasn't been properly upgraded. I would choose wisely and pick another of the many hotels in downtown Chicago that is more modern, much nicer, and has modern soundproof windows. This place just doesn't add up for the promise and the price.

We are sorry to hear that your experience did not meet our standards. A regular and thorough maintenance and deep cleaning schedule is established, but clearly the room you were assigned is overdue. We understand the importance of attention to detail, and appreciate reminders that we can always do better. Thank you for your feedback.

Lovely hotel. However, I left a brand new pair of shoes in the closet. My fault. I called them immediately. Had to leave a message with house keeping. No response. I called again and left another message. No response. Called a third time and left a message. Got a message back. "We'll check and get back to you." Nothing. I'm positive I left them in thee closet. I wore them on Thursday night. Checked out Friday morning without them. I told them exactly where they were. This left a VERY bad impression for me. So unresponsive! Like my son said, "Someone got a brand new pair of shoes!" Jerks!

Stayed here in July with my husband and 2 boys. A large room and bathroom, nice linens, and quiet room. Very friendly and welcoming staff, great suggestions from the doorman Jesse, and champagne and chocolate in the afternoon in the lobby from Mark. Walking distance to many great restaurants, tourist sites, and public transportation. We will return again and recommend to others.

Everyone at the Hotel Blake was wonderful and exceptionally helpful. The hotel is beautifully decorated and very clean. Rather than call us a cab, the door man arranged a town car to take us to the airport (for less than the cost of a taxi). It is within walking distance of grant park, and very close to several bus routes. We only stayed one night, but would definitely stay here again the next time we're in Chicago.

Stayed for business trip - 4 days, 5 nights. The staff are wonderful, the location is perfect and the rooms are big and clean. Twice I came back from my business meetings to champagne and chocolate being served in the lobby. Hotel Blake is within walking distance to Sears (Willis) Tower, some of the best restaurants in Chicago, Grant Park and Millennium Park. I had a small problem with the air conditioning in my room and the response time was immediate.

Do yourself a favor and book a room here. You won't regret it.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 July 2014

This review is based on a stay in July 2013, when the hotel was called Wyndham Blake Chicago.

I had booked a "Superior" King room a good time in advance, and was initially given one on the 3rd floor. While the room was "okay" (small, and didn't have the big bathroom), it didn't smell fresh, and was almost on street level and once again next to an elevator. It absolutely was not worth the almost $300 a night they charge in July around weekends.

Because of the noise - I was aware of the high price so that wasn't the sole reason - I simply inquired whether it would be possible to get a similar room on a higher floor, and got almost immediately a free upgrade to a huge room (possibly a "King Suite"?) on the 9th floor no questions asked - SUPERB service there and certainly made me very happy!!

The upgraded suite / room was beautiful, big and has the large double-sink marble bathroom. It also had a lounge chair, desk, a comfy sofa and plenty, plenty of room. Very happy!

Noise is an issue from other rooms and from the busy street below. Bring good earplugs (I always do) and you won't have a problem - the king bed is wide and awesome, firm but very comfortable!

Unfortunately the WiFi signal on the 9th floor was between poor and nonexistent, it barely worked. There also isn't a minibar (fridge) in the rooms, so you couldn't store cold drinks or snacks etc. You can rent one for $25/night... There's a 7-Eleven next door, so it isn't that necessary.

There is pretty much nothing closeby, so you have to hop on the EL to go elsewhere for dinner. There is a pricey pizza place (which also delivered to the hotel as their "room service"), a Starbucks and an Epic Burger around the corner.

Luckily there are Blue/Brown/Pink (LaSalle) and Red (Harrison) line stations within a short distance, a couple blocks.

I didn't have any problems with hot water or water pressure, or the air conditioning.

Room Tip: Book one of the suites, my room was #906
