“Very big room, great location...a few quirks but overall a good place to stay.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 August 2011

Stayed here for two nights, July 27-28. As we were coming from another hotel, we needed to either check in very early (9 AM) or store our luggage. Upon our early morning arrival, there were no free rooms yet, but staff members whisked our luggage away quickly so that we could head out for a day of sightseeing. Hotel about a 5-7 minute walk from Red Line. Bus stops are nearby as well.

Property has a strange layout; our second floor room was not accessible by the elevator in the main lobby area. We had to exit lobby, walk into parking garage, and use elevator in garage. Our second floor also didn't have ice machine, necessitating another elevator ride/search. Other floors seemed connected - just not the second?

We didn't spend much time in the hotel beyond showering and sleeping as we were so busy in the city. The room itself was HUGE - two beds, chair/ottoman, desk, dresser, and still a large empty chunk of floor space. Appeared recently renovated but you could tell it was older property. Overall seemed fairly clean but did notice that our socks/feet were dirty after walking on carpeting. A/C worked extremely well - room was downright chilly when we arrived - but unit was SO NOISY that - when presented with the choice of listening to the heavy thunderstorm or the AC unit for sleeping, we chose the storm and turned off the unit. Luckily room stayed cool enough overnight.

Did not get to use pool as we arrived back too late at night, but it was large and appeared well kept.. Pool opened to a rooftop deck with great city views. Be sure to check it out at night or early in the morning.

We never even went back to the lobby/main building after checking in, so can't say anything about the staff, etc. No breakfast, but the Rock and Roll McDonald's is right across the street. In addition to the usual McDonald's fare, there is a small bakery counter on the second floor. Other restaurants are close by so you can easily find something for breakfast before you start your day,

Room Tip: Floors are connected oddly to main lobby and pool area; may want to request certain floors?

No free breakfast, unless you call coffee and a granola bar breakfast. Very slow elevators. Personable and attentive service at the front desk and at the bar in the restaurant adjacent to the lobby.

First off, this hotel has one of the friendliest, and courteous staff that I have ever encountered. This is an aspect of this hotel that truely stands out. It is clear that management has placed a high priority on their customer service.
We were attending the Paul McCartney concert at Wrigley Field and were looking for a hotel with a convenient location, and one that would be reasonably priced. The Best Western River North proved to be just that.
The subway (red line) is approximately a 5 minute, easy walk from the hotel and the commute on the subway to Wrigley is less than 30 minutes.
The one night rate that we paid at this hotel was very reasonable, in comparison with downtown Chicago hotel prices. The free parking was quite an advantage, considering the cost of parking at other hotels in or out of the city, and the parking attendant was friendly and helpful.
There is plenty of eating establishments within walking distance of the hotel. McDonalds is just a few steps away, as is the Hard Rock and Rainforest Cafes. Michigan Ave is an approximately 10 minute walk, with every imaginable place to eat there and along Ohio Street.
We found our room to be comfortable, spacious enough for two, clean and had everything we needed. Yes, the rooms are a little dated, and the AC is a bit noisy. But we didn't find that either detracted from the fine accomodations, nor would cause us to hesitate in the least to recommend this hotel.

The best deal in Chicago. Reasonably priced for Chicago, it comes with free parking and really nice, big and clean rooms. The rooftop pool and sundeck are wonderful. The staff is courteous, helpful and know everything about the city. They don't offer free breakfast but the restaurant and room-service menus are very reasonably priced so it seems fair. The location is absolutely great. It's in downtown and walking distance from Michiigan ave and several restaurants. Overall, the best choice in Chicago. You can't go wrong with this hotel.

Stayed here one night Sunday, July 31, 2011, in a room with a king size bed. Also stayed here in April, 2011, in a two bedroom suite. Both rooms were very clean, well maintained, and apparently recently updated.

The two bedroom suite had a king size in one room, and two doubles in the other, with a pull out sofa in the living room. Only one bathroom though. It also had a dorm size refrigerator, and a micro wave oven. The suite was on the sixth floor, and we heard no noises from inside the hotel. There is some noise from the busy streets outside, but that is understandable, and not overwhelming. No issues with cleanliness, and the beds were comfortable, with good linen and towels.

The room with the king size bed was also on the sixth floor (by coincidence right next to the suite we had the first trip). There was plenty of space in the room, and again everything was clean and in good shape. The bed seemed firmer than the king in the suite, but some will like it, like my wife, other find it too firm, like me. Personal taste!

The hotel itself is relatively small (for downtown Chicago), but well maintained and clean. Great location, with lots of restaurants and public transportation nearby. Free parking included, as advertised. There are two sections of the hotel, east and west, with separate elevators, like two buildings were joined. They only connect on lower floors. Both rooms had newer flat screen TV's, but no HD programming. Top floor pool is clean and great for kids. No hot tub. There is also a rooftop patio to view the surrounding buildings. The small restaurant on site is okay for a simple, inexpensive breakfast. We never tried the pizza. Free wi-fi worked okay, but the signal was weak on the sixth floor. The employees we encountered, at the front desk and in the parking lot, were pleasant and professional. No "resort fees" or other hidden charges on the final bill.

This is now our preferred hotel in Chicago, and we would recommend it to others.

If you are looking for a hotel convenient to everything...the Best Western River North is for you. This was our first trip to Chicago and we are so glad we selected this hotel. While the River North is and older facility, it is well maintained and appears to have been remodeled within the last several years.

Three adults were in our party and we stayed in a King suite. The suite was very comfortable and clean. Street and hallway noise was minimal. The hotel staff is warm, inviting and very knowledgeable of the area.

The hotel is located just blocks from the Magnificent Mile; local and chain restaurants are nearby and both bus and L access are within a few blocks. Free parking and discount attraction tickets make this hotel one of the best bargains in Chicago.
