The location is good but the rooms are too small, the lobby is upstairs, and doesn't have ramp for strollers or wheel chairs, for 300 dollars a night you can do better. The parking was really expensive. The breakfast is ok, but nothing specialMore

Thanks for your review paulinamm. Our parking is consistent with prices in downtown Chicago; due to the space constraint and dense population of being in heart of the city. Thanks again and we hope you have a nice day.
This property was originally Cass Hotel that Holiday Inn took over. They did a complete rehab and did it well. However, rooms are still TINY. Bed and linens all great. Bathroom sink doesnt have sides to put anything. One slim small shelf to put your stuff. Hard to fit two people in same room. It was a great redo but again very small. Employees all very nice, attentive and helpful. Location is excellent. Valet parking$$. Noise level with heater NOT on in our room but in other rooms--you can hear them cycling on and off all night. And, i wore earplugs! Love the blackout curtains. Probably would not stay again.
Hello margaretmarie, thank you for your review! We're glad you enjoyed our historic renovations and attentive staff. Thank you again and we hope you have a nice day.
Hotel Cass, now operated as a Holiday Inn Express, is a block off magnificent mile, near tons of great resturants, convenient to public transport with friendly, knowledgeable staff with a boutique ambience make this a dynamite value for right down there in the loop. Hotel Cass is fine for business or families and ideal for tourists.
Breakfast was a step up from the waffle-bar of many budget hotels & offered a different small omelete each morning, sausage or bacon, biscuits & gravy & hot cinabuns, plus yogurt, bread, cereals, fruit etc.
Although it lacks the fancy pool/spa type amenities, it is pristine clean & has everything needed for business or tourists---(if you want to just hang out in a resort hotel then go to the beach). Hotel Cass was far more than I expected & the attentiveness of the staff is of the caliber of a very fine hotel.
The only drawback is the exorbitant cost of parking; it would be nice if they would cut a discount deal with one of the garages, but you can save $5/day plus tip by parking it in the adjacent garage yourself instead of using the valet.
Hello Titamargs, thanks very much for your review! We're so glad you enjoyed your stay with us, especially our hot, complimentary breakfast, cleanliness and hardworking staff. Thanks again and we hope to see you again soon!
I was received with a nice wellcome and smile at the front desk and two small bottles of water, service was fast, but as soon as I arrived at my room things started to get sour. My wife and I arrived at midnight very tired and eager to get into the queen bed which indeed was in the little room, but there was not much space for our luggage, our clothing or anything else. Once in bed I tried to place a bottle of water and my glasses in the small drawer you usually find alongside the bed in hotels, but there was not even a small surface to place something. Next morning we found the bathroom was ok, but when we opened the curtain the view of our second floor room was to a dirty roof, by the way the curtains did not cover the whole window so we recieved the early sun in our faces early, the next day was rainy so that was not much of a problem. The room looked clean but my nose told me otherwise because I got up coughing and sneezing, and since I am allergic to mite-dust I knew the room was dusty and the cleaning process was not thorough because they probably have mites in the mattress, rugs and curtains. We went for breakfast and it is a self service facility we found ok, but if you ask something to the persons replenishing the food they won't even answer or just say don't know. We had to walk down the stairs most of the time because the elevator was alwalys full when passing through the second floor and it seems the other one was broken. Housekeeping is done in about ten minutes, at must fifteen so one can imagine they don´t clean so much, it seems they only make up the bed, and clean a little bit in the bathrom, and when they are in the mood they put another soap or shampoo, finally we left "thanks god", we already had our bill, but they have about ten stairs in the entrance, and the bell boy was nowhere, so my wife and I had to carry our medium suitcases down the stairs which is not easy for people in their seventy´s, when we were already in front of the taxi the bell man appeared from nowhere jut to ask for a tip. Our bill including taxes was $694.25 for three nights, I am a gold elite member of the IHG Rewards Club, but that didn´t seem to be of any help, since I got a bad room and bad service at a high price. Location is good but that is only part of it, our stay was not pleasant.
Dear Carlos R,
Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your stay. It is unfortunate the service and accommodations you received prevented you from fully enjoying your time at the hotel. We take all of the reviews we get very seriously. We have shared your comments with the staff and we’re confident the necessary adjustments will be made, in order to achieve complete guest satisfaction.
Thank you again for your comments, we hope to have the honor of serving you again in the future.
This is our second stay at the Hotel Cass, this time for the Chicago Marathon. The hotel is very nice, even if the rooms are a bit small. The location is exceptional - within walking distance of many major attractions, shopping and restaurants. The value for your stay is top drawer. The front desk staff are very friendly. When I am back in one of my favourite cities, I will stay here again.
Hi Peter D, thank you for your review! We're thrilled you gave us the pleasure of hosting you again and are so glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We hope to see you again, have a great day.
This is the former Hotel Cass but it's been updated by Holiday Inn Express. Just a couple of blocks off Michigan Ave. and near Water Tower. Wonderful breakfast with large selection of hot and cold items. Good rates. Had a room with 2 dbl beds, small but sufficient. Staff was very friendly.
Hi Poodleparent, thank you for your review! We're thrilled you enjoyed our complimentary hot breakfast, convenient location and friendly staff. Thanks again and we hope to see you again soon.
