Can't complain about value. We have stayed there several times. Relatively clean. Would stay again. Very convenient location. Quite a bit of traffic noise. Pretty nice staff. McDonald's fast food across the street. Easy to get taxi. Short ride to Michigan Avenue

Four of us just returned from a 5 day vacation in Chicago, staying at the Ohio House Motel. We are two adults, 15 year old boy and 11 year old boy. Overall, our stay was very positive. Would not hesitate to visit again - perhaps in the summer! Here is a list of our pros and cons regarding the hotel:

PROS:
- Excellent downtown location. Short walk to countless shops/restaurants/attractions, including our favourites: Trader Joe's, Sports Authority, Portillo's, Lou Malnati's, Michigan Avenue, Millenium Park, Willis Tower, Federal Reserve and many, many others. Within 5 mile drive of: Adler Planetarium, Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum. About a 15 minute drive to Museum of Science and Industry, Chinatown.
- Safe, well-lit, free parking.
- Clean, well maintained rooms. Our room had two double beds, TV, microwave, bar fridge/freezer, and was cleaned thoroughly each day.
- Free wifi (although our boys suggested this was slow)
- Free made-to-order breakfast each day @ Pizzeria Ora across the street (while the Ohio House Motel coffee shop is under construction)
- Free coffee/tea/hot chocolate & a selection of apples - great for on the go day-trips.
- Friendly, accommodating staff.

CONS:
- Uncomfortable mattresses. We could easily feel the springs protrude while lying down - perhaps this is specific to our room, but be prepared for lesser quality mattresses.
- The room temp was controlled centrally, and we felt our room was very warm. We requested the temp be dropped to 75, but it felt much warmer. The only way to overcome this was to open the window to let cooler air circulate which let traffic noise into the room.

Compared with other accommodation options in Chicago we found the Ohio House Motel to offer very good value for our dollar. We were able to stretch our dollar further here without sacrificing convenience or safety.

Room Tip: All rooms face parking lot & Ohio Street. Be prepared for street noise if windows are opened.

We stayed at Ohio house which was conveniently located in the heart of downtown Chicago, it wasn't very cheap either. The rooms are real old and the service was ok. It is a place to be conveniently situated downtown Chicago but nothing luxury about it.

Good price with a great location. This 1950's hotel was staffed by lovely people AND it had parking. Std rooms, but great feel. Walking distance to everything, we would absolutely stay here again. Very happy.

Fabolous location and nice price for an unpretentious authentic Americana motel. Unbelievable it could survive inside the center of Chicago. A simple diner is located nearby the entrance where to enjoy breakfast in the same style. I love it!

My husband and I received Chicago CityPasses for Christmas and decided to put them to use right away. We love historic Route 66 so naturally thought this was a unique place to stay. We loved that it was only a few blocks away from the Magnificent Mile and felt very safe in the neighborhood. It was also located next to lots of fun restaurants, including Ed Debevic's, the Hard Rock Cafe, Rainforest Cafe, and of course the Rock and Roll McDonalds right across the street. The onsite free parking was a great plus, and we were given complimentary breakfast tickets served across the street by the Best Western. The staff was also extremely helpful and understanding when we had to add a few extra days onto our stay due to the extreme weather. Also, if you don't mind a longer walk, my husband and I enjoyed the 3 mile walk down to Museum Campus. I will definitely recommend this hotel to all our friends and family.
