Owner description: The largest science museum in the Western Hemisphere! Housed in the only remaining building from the 1893 World’s Fair, MSI is a Chicago must-see. You’ll experience 14 acres of hands-on exhibits and have the chance to stand before a 40-foot tornado; climb aboard a World War II German submarine; take a run in a human-sized hamster wheel; descend into an Illinois coal mine; tour a fully functioning eco-friendly home; board a 727 hanging from the ceiling; transmit your pulse to a 13-foot, 3-D beating heart; and much more! MSI is not a place where you walk around quietly and observe. No way! You get involved in the fun—and learn—by doing. Just a few miles from downtown with convenient underground parking.

“LOVED this place”

My 13 year old son and I had a fantastic time at this Museum, particularly the tour of the submarine and the big exhibits on electricity, etc...next to the Field Museum, my new favorite attraction in Chicago.

“Very Interesting”
Reviewed 5 July 2014 via mobile

Could have spent the whole day here. U 505 sub was very neat. We had a 10 year old and a 13 year old. Both weren't thrilled about going but had a blast there. Plenty of interacting with the exhibits.

“Kids loved it”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

Kids were unsure if they would like it when we told them we were going there. But after doing a lot of the hands on activities, they decided that they loved it. They especially liked the weather science area. Watched the butterfly experience in the omnimax theater which was really cool. The food court was actually pretty good.

“WHAT a ROCKING AWESOME PLACE!”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

Science is what turns everyone into a young kid! This was a GREAT location. We've been there three times and STILL LOVE IT. So much interactive stuff there to do for kids. A must-see destination if you're in Chicago.
