Never stayed with La Quinta before. Originally we were booked into the Virgin Hotel which is our go-to, but the dates of travel were changed and they were unable to accommodate us for the earlier night, so rather than switch hotels, we made our reservation for the stay at La Quinta.

First the good - the staff are very friendly, nothing is a problem. The rooms are very spacious and clean (the hotel, in general, is very clean, they seem obsessed with cleaning which is great!), the selection of TV channels is comparable to a top cable package and completely free. Decent sized toiletries, plenty of towels and a maintenance and housekeeping team that are super responsive.

The breakfast selection on a weekday is amazing. Eggs, bacon, sausages, hash browns, waffles, yogurts, bagels and toast, plenty of juice options, coffee, cereal etc.

Now the bad - the breakfast selection on the weekend is blah. No eggs, no bacon or sausages. There were sausage patties, biscuits and oatmeal I think the gloop in the container was. To be candid, it really peed me off. Clearly, this selection is reduced because room rates on the weekend are lower so you cannot fault the economics of this, but there should be an option to pay for an upgrade on your breakfast if you want it.

The first night we did not sleep great because of issues with the air not cooling the room and there was a dampness in the room through our stay. The cause of this? A city ordinance that requires buildings to vent fresh outside air, therefore we were getting the humidity from outside, coupled with the air conditioning. A simple fix would be to dehumidify the outside air before pumping it into the rooms.

Overall, this stay was excellent value for money and I would definitely use La Quinta again!

Richard,

Thank you for your fair and extensive evaluation of the property! Like all things, there is always room for improvement and I appreciate you shedding some light on the areas that could use some refinement. We will continue to try to better ourselves and hopefully upon your next visit we will have reached that next tier of guest service.

Regards,
- Gary

I have stayed in multiple hotels in Chicago. I was surprised by the luxury and size of our room for the price and the bonus was a that breakfast was included which is not the norm for Chicago hotels. Location was great. I will stay here again.

We stayed at La Quinta for two nights and one after a Vacations by Rail vacation. First of all the front desk staff was extremely nice and helpful. I was going to point out one person as being outstanding by honestly, every front desk person was the best they could be.
The room stay before and after our train vacation was most pleasant. The rooms were IMMACULATE. It would be nicer though if there were walk-in showers.
The complimentary breakfast was not great but it was okay. The young lady taking your room number before entering was very nice but the employees cleaning up & stocking the food couldn't find a smile.
On the first part of our stay we had a drink in the bar. The bartender (Luke I believe) was a a great guy.

We would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends and family.

Left behind an expensive item, and was delighted and appreciative hotel staff turned it in to lost and found. Thought of staying at a different hotel for future visits that would be closer to our events, but nope, staying here for sure based on this wonderful experience.

Flew to Chicago for a Business trip and decided to stay at the newly renovated La Quinta Inn & Suites and the hotel did not disappoint. Check-in at this hotel was easy, rooms were nice and provided a comfortable ambiance. Enjoyed the free breakfast provided and the walk to work was easy breezy. In walking distance to the Union station, subway, and attractions such as the Willis Tower. Will definitely recommend staying here if you are looking for a hotel convenient to public transportation and restaurants.
