“Cool Place to Hang Out”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 August 2013

Not at all touristy, Andersonville is one of the best neighborhoods on Chicago's north side for just hanging out and browsing through the eclectic shops. The crowd is mostly young locals, so it's a more authentic Chicago experience than downtown's museums and name-brand stores.

“One of my favorite hoods in the city”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 June 2013

Andersonville is an ethnically diverse neighborhood rooted in Swedish culture. Although the Swedish aspect of the neighborhood is slowly giving way to a broader demographic, the people who set up shop and live here still honor the legacy. They celebrate Midsommar with a wonderful festival every May (Midsommarfest). It is not traditionally Swedish themed as would be expected; however, they do have a May Pole which they dance around and the Swedish-American museum sponsors a stage where they perform traditional Swedish music and dancing. The festival gets larger every year and it worth checking out. The best part of Andersonville is that it feels somewhat like a small town in the city. It is a lovely strolling neighborhood with a plethora of shops, galleries, restaurants, cafés, museums and galleries.

“Andersonville Galleria- year long Art Fair”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2013

Before dining at Andie's,we checked out the Galleria. I really like the concept of this place...you can buy items(food, art, soaps, clothing, accessories, etc) which are made by individual artisans! We like the toffees, nuts, hats,jewelry,clothing,purses,art,etc...I could go on and on...! Visit the Galleria and support artisan-made wares!!!

Lots of great restaurants with a nice town-like feel. Visit George's for some of the best ice cream in Chicago!
