What a wonderful, luxurious hotel! Customer service was exceptional! They treated us like we were the only guests at the hotel. We were celebrating my daughter's 13th birthday and she had a wonderful time. They brought her a treat to the room of a cupcake, popcorn, and soda. She was thrilled. We will definitely stay here again.

We went to the Waldorf for three nights over Thanksgiving. The staff was fabulous and the rooms (we did connecting) absolutely perfect. We especially loved the sitting area with the fireplace to lounge at as a family. The no tip policy was an added surprise bonus! We also loved having the complimentary car service available for close locations.

Room Tip: we loved the fireplace/sitting area

We stayed here over New Year's and was an excellent choice! Lobby entrance isn't a good first impression and was in for a surprise once we got to the room. Hotel Staff were excellent particularly the housekeeping staff. Each afternoon/evening we returned, the room was made up & cleaned exactly the same was as when we checked in. Highly recommend and will return.

This is a fabulous hotel. The accommodations were excellent but the staff was even better. They made us feel like we were the only people staying in the hotel. We had a few minor issues during check in that were immediately rectified beyond our expectations.

We stayed at the Waldorf from December 26-31. We wanted a little family getaway and my husband found good rates through the Amex fine hotel and resorts program. We had a lovely suite on a corner with a balcony, fireplace, 1.5 bathrooms and a bedroom and living room. It was all very nicely appointed. The bathroom has the TV in the mirror so you can sit in the giant tub and watch TV if you're so inclined.
The service was great. When we checked in Ernest arranged for someone to come make up our daughter's pull out bed every evening at 7. Anytime we needed ice they delivered it within minutes and we used the house car several times. Every person we encountered was friendly and seemed genuinely interested in helping us out. They were all friendly to our twelve year old and while it's a " fancy" hotel she didn't feel out of place.
We ate in the restaurant for breakfast and found the service to be good and the food was well prepared standard breakfast offerings.
Our package included a $100 spa credit and I had my nails done by Shaunna. She was also very friendly and professional. Just a heads up- kids under 16 aren't allowed into the spa areas ( only the pool and only at certain times) so our daughter was a little bummed she couldn't get a manicure but she got over it. They do have an in room nail service that we could have used but that seemed like overkill for a twelve year old.
The only complaint that we had was the temperature control for the suite. It can be very warm in the living room and chilly in the bedroom but with only one thermostat you can't heat one area and not the other. Also,we had a heck of a time figuring out the lighting. We seemed to turn off the whole room when pressing the fireplace button. We also turned on every light a time or two by accident. I suspect that those were user errors though!
One tip, if you want a newspaper at your door in the morning let the front desk know in advance as it's not automatically delivered.
We will definitely return.

Dear nisajoy,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your candid feedback of your most recent visit to the Waldorf Astoria Chicago on TripAdvisor. I am truly pleased to read that you and your family enjoyed your suite and the various unique amenities it has to offer, and most importantly, it gives me great pleasure to learn that our service team was consistently warm and graciously helpful during your visit.

I regret to learn, however, about your concerns and inconveniences caused by your suite’s thermostat and lighting. I have shared your concerns with our Director of Rooms and our Director of Engineering for internal review. We will ensure that our Guest Services team is more thorough during our room orientation. We will look forward to serving you again, hopefully in the not far future. Perhaps next time, your daughter can enjoy our in room nail service, for all of our young guests who experience it truly enjoy it.

Sincerely,

I liked the Waldorf, first time stay-usually stay at the Four Seasons. Hotel was nice, but didnt really feel that there was a difference in amenity level between the Four Seasons and this hotel, even though there was a fairly steep price difference.
