Had lunch here on a Tuesday. Had to line up at 1100. By the 11:30 opening a long line had formed. We tried the fried eggplant parmesan balls, pork secreto, bobota (honey cornbread) and a prochetta panini with salsa verde. Thought for $11 I would only get one small sanwich but two arrived on the plate. All of the food was excellent. Drink prices were a bit high. $72 for the four items and two drinks. A little pricey for lunch but food was very good and different.

No matter if the food is good or not, personally I find it disrespectful of a restaurant not to take reservations and asking customers to wait for two to three hours outside.
We got in after two hours, and even though the food is good, with a large variety and choice, not sure if I would wait that long again. The bone marrow is good and a popular choice. The cheese and chocolate fried brioche was good as well.
Pretty noisy making conversations rather difficult.

I'm a vegetarian and I don't often find a lot of choices. The choices at Purple pig are not many either, however whatever I tried was just amazing. Charred Cauliflower and Beets with Goats cheese are things to die for.. lip smacking. The person manning the bar whipped me a couple of great cocktails too..

Really happy when we went to this place. Was very tight sharing our table and we had to wait over an hour but we were warned of that plus it was a Friday night. The wine selection was lovely and there was a great selection (I am a wine lover especially when I travel). We had delicious cauliflower, chorizo and olives and pork shoulder. Will tell others to try this place when they come to Chicago!
