My husband and I have just had a very enjoyable experience at the Purple Pig on our first of 3 nights in Chicago. We read the reviews before we left for the restaurant so we knew it didn't take bookings and we would probably have to wait. They said 45 mins but it was probably more like 30 mins and we had a drink on the terrace while we waited. The food was really interesting and we avoided (if there was any) fried and battered food. We had warm olives, beets with goats cheese, hummus with a poached egg and pita bread,
And a plate of beef pieces. It was all delicious and the staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Went for an early dinner around 530 on Sunday and had no wait. Very Limited Gluten free options and no gluten free menue. Brought food out as it was ready for the table to share which was dissappointing due to limited gluten free. Wait staff was helpfull and seemed knowledgable.

W enjoyed all of the unique things we tried from poached tuna to octopus, pork shoulder, halibut shmear, to Oprah fish was great. Unique eclectic flavors that were really enjoyable and filling. Service was very fast. Only negative was awkward seating at communal tables. Definitely something special that gives Chicago a great name for delicious food!

We were looking for lunch with my 17-year old daughter who is traditionally very picky. The Purple Pig came up in a Yelp search for grilled cheese so we decided to go there for lunch.

It was a very happening place, even at lunch. We were seated at a counter right in front of the food prep so it was like a show of sorts and we were able to spy all of the unique and delicious creations leaving the service area.

When the menus arrived a look of panic could be seen on my daughter's face as if to say, "I am going to starve". We were able to assure her that the elaborate and uniques descriptions were nothing more than food items that she was familiar with and would like. Without recalling their items as listed, we settled on the fried cheese, a cheese bread with veggie dip, and some meatballs, and one their specialties, a broccoli dish. Everything was very good according to all, including my daughter.

My husband and i went here for dinner. They have a nice patio. Wait staff was very polite and helpful. The food is tapas, but was very filling. We had beer and cocktails which are great. They also had an extensive wine list. The fried olives were scrumptious. The gyro and hummus were also great. I think the meatballs may have been my favorite.
