“Very nice hotel!”
Reviewed 29 July 2012 via mobile

This is a very nice hotel. Convenient location for all the sights of Chicago and the "L".

The service is excellent and the rooms are beautiful. We had room service one night and the food was wonderful.

If you're in town for business or pleasure this is a great place to stay!

Spent a week at the JW. The room was big and comfortable and It was nice to have the priviledges of being a platinum member and access to concierge level. The hotel staff, Demetrius B., Nancy S. & Maria A. were attentive, friendly and always had a smile on their faces. The turn down girl left me a few extra chocolates once I told her that I enjoyed them. That was a nice touch.

The location was a block away from the Willis Towers (Sears) and central to a lot of good food and attractions. Try the food at IPO in the W across the street. It was fantasic!

Room Tip: Get a room up high away from the trains.

Recently hosted a busiess function at the hotel. Hotel rooms are spacious and beautiful and since the hotel opened less than two years ago all is new and fresh. Staff throughout the property is gracious and professional. All that was promised was delivered on time. Also a great lobby bar and restuarant for breakfast. I would definately book future events at the property.

Unfortunately, our stay at the JW Marriott got off to a bad start with a very poor check in experience. The general manager quickly addressed the problem and even sent a nice gift to our room with a note, which we appreciated. Our room was on the concierge floor and was relatively spacious and comfortable. The concierge lounge staff was first rate and the food there was better than most Marriott hotels offer, but they close at noon on Friday through the weekend. The bar staff was very friendly, although we found out later that there was a happy hour in effect during our visit, which would have been nice to have been told at the time. Overall, the hotel left us underwhelmed. Our stay following this one at the Flemish House was so exceptional (for the same price) that it left us feeling "mehh" about the JW Marriott. We probably won't return.

This is my second time staying at this hotel and will definitely stay again on future trips to Chicago.

Staff was great, super nice at check-in and very nice during entire stay.

Had a king room with obstructed view. Knew about limited veiw when i made reservation, so not a problem for me. Window is frosted, so cannot see outside. Didn't spend much time in room so fine with me. Room is very nice. Spacious and has a large TV with a great line up of HD channels. Nice desk and plenty of lamps. Also has a nice small bar area with mini fridge stocked with drinks.

Bathroom is really nice, what really elevates this hotel room. Its huge, with two sinks and a large tub. Has a separate walk in shower with solid water pressure. And small separate toilet area. Really a super nice bathroom.

Location is superb. Close to L stops and only about a 10-15 minute walk to Millennium/Grant Parks and Art Institute of Chicago. Tons of shops and restaurants nearby too.

Overall, a great Hotel and would stay here again and highly recommend.

Stayed at the JW Marriott Chicago for business. Beautiful lobby, very expansive. Rooms were nice and spacious, but the view was other rooms on the property ('inside view'). Had breakfast at the Florentine, which was decent, but priced like any other hotel restaurant. Valet parking was expensive ($55/day). Meeting rooms/facilities were decent.

I spent over about 20 nights during a 2-month period, in a variety of rooms. All of the rooms on the exterior were nice, although they varied in their configuration (it's a former office and retail building) and the prices varied from $199-$359. The hotel is new and fresh. I never had a bad room, but the rooms in the interior "ring" were too confining for me (frosted window to a courtyard).

Each room has a nice I-Home brand music-radio that received reliable FM reception and can play and charge your I-Pod or I-Phone. Quiet rooms are even quieter if you run the fan on the thermostat (just the right white noise).

Access to the concierge level is key -- breakfast was a nice treat (not available on Sat./Sun.), with gourmet coffee made fresh by the cup (espresso, cappuccino, etc.), organic yogurt and honey elegantly served in a glass, fresh cut fruit and berries, and two hot dishes that varied (e.g., eggs and sausage). The bar is a fun place to unwind because it's inviting and open to the 2-story lobby. Service throughout was professional and cheerful.

Room Tip: Any room on the exterior "ring". Some rooms have a 2nd TV built-into the bathroom mirror.
