Beautiful high end shops...bring lots of plastic or just enjoy the window shopping. Some shops are still under renovation, but soon it will be perfect.

I love shopping on Oak street - it's easy to get to, right off Lake Shore Drive, theres always parking, the shops are great - especially Bonpoint and Juicy, for kids. Just last week there was a DJ playing music on the street, gave it such a fun festive atmosphere!

Very nice street, but for shopping be prepared to pay. Also, many stores require an appointment to shop. Can be discouraging to want to look at something that you see in a window only to be turned away because of no appointment.

A friend told us about this area in Chicago so we walked there one morning. There is a small but beautiful park with a gelatto stand surrounded by spectacular greenery, lots of locals walking their dogs, reading the paper. A walk down Oak St. is to look at the designer shops but the next street over are wonderful old brownstone type apts. along this tree lined street. Right at the park are famous restaurants, including Gibsons where we had a delicious lunch. Try not to miss the area, it's not in the guide books.

Expensive shops, bad attitudes. I avoid when possible. People aren't very friendly and - it's simply not my style.
