This place it's very simple on the inside. The patties and croissants speak for themselves. The macaroons are amazing and the curry chicken salad is also very good. You won't get your food quickly but you won't care once you try it!

Not the most impressive place to look at, but man, those macarons were as good as any I've had in Paris (and Pierre Herme is my favorite there).

HIDDEN / difficult to find -- A nice Chicagoan helped us find the place that is not at street level, but up a ramp way used also by other businesses. Very poor signage though the orange door helps.

TINY -- even though this is being reviewed in the restaurant section, we would likely call it a bakery / take-out as there is such limited seating. A few tables at the front cash register area and a couple tables in the back with a nice view of the baking activities which was a nice treat.

COLD -- here's a suggestion to the owners. Put some sort of strong spring mechanism on the door to help keep it closed. Not only was it VERY annoying that the door every few minutes would fly open, but also it was VERY COLD making any enjoyment of food difficult, even in a bakery with ovens in use. The owners apparently are aware of the issue as the cash-register clerk would rush over and say something about some special way of closing the door to make it work. Even when we moved to the back room closer to the baking, it was still cold mostly due to the door constantly letting cold air in and warm air out.
Better approach: fix it.

FOOD / Expensive-- Croissants and waffle were nothing special and the coffee was OK. We agree with another reviewer that Le Pain Quotidien’s in New York is better in terms of food, surroundings, easy of finding, etc.

TRY AGAIN? Considering we are such lovers of great breads, croissants, good coffee and similar, we may try this place again on our next trip to Chicago, but only as take-out, especially if it is in the winter or so-called spring.

Sampled a croissant, turnover and waffel. Croissant was good, turnover was fair and the waffel left a lot to be desired. I was in Brussels last year and was exited to find this bakery in the mag mile area but, alas, it fell short of my expectations. If your like me and have a weakness for baked sweets, have a croissant. You will enjoy it if your not expecting authentic Belgian treats.

You must go to this place when in Chicago. All the food is made from scratch and is very very tasty. The place is extremely small with very limited seating. I would suggest take out and enjoy it at your hotel. The croissants are perfect and so are all the pastries. There isn't really a menu so you have to ask what they are serving that day. We only found out they had a lentil salad when a customer picked his up for take out. So we decided to try it as everything else was so good. Well it didn't disappoint.. It's a little hard to find off of Michigan so don't blink cause you'll miss it.. It's that small. Go! Go! Go!
